What's up Wednesday?

The holidays are over, but gout attacks can be triggered by foods that are abundant on the holiday menu. Strategies for preventing gout attacks include:

* Avoiding or limiting alcohol consumption
* Drinking Plenty of water
* Avoiding foods that can trigger a gout flare up.

Unfortunately, gout pain and inflammation can return at any time.

Currently we are seeking participants for a clinical research study to determine if an investigational drug can reduce joint pain and other symptoms in adults who experience an acute gout flare.

If you have gout and experience gout flares, please contact our site for information regarding the study. (406) 549-1124 or visit our website @ www.montanamedicalresearch.com

Norovirus spreads quickly in places where people are in close proximity, such as day care centers, retirement communities, cruise ships, hospitals, and restaurants. Vulnerable people, such as adults older than age 60, and people with underlying health conditions are at greater risk for serious symptoms of norovirus.

* Consider joining a clinical trial for norovirus prevention. The Nova 301 trial will evaluate the safety, effectiveness, and immune response of a messenger (mRNA)- based investigational vaccine aimed at preventing norovirus.

Potential participants must:

๐Ÿ’ฅbe aged 70 years or older
๐Ÿ’ฅ be in good health or have a well controlled medical condition

There is no cost to participate and participants will receive compensation for time and travel. If you are interested, please contact our office at (406) 549 1124 or visit our website at https://montanamedicalresearch.com/studies/ #!/study/152

What is norovirus infection?

Norovirus often referred to as "the stomach flu" is an infection that can cause sudden diarrhea and vomiting. Symptoms may also include nausea, stomach pain, headache and chills, usually lasting 1 to 3 days. In severe cases, these symptoms can lead to dehydration, which may require hospitalization or IV fluid.

How is it spread?

Norovirus is a very contagious virus that is typically spread through person-to-person contact, as well as contaminated food, water, and services. Norovirus spreads quickly in places where people are in close contact such as: day care centers, retirement communities, cruise ships, and restaurants.

How to prevent norovirus infection?

There is no commercially available vaccines for the prevention of norovirus, however there are steps that can reduce risk including:

Wash hands thoroughly and often.
Handle and prepare food properly.
Stay home when sick.

Current research for norovirus prevention.

Currently we are conducting a clinical trial evaluating an investigational vaccine aimed at preventing norovirus infection. For more information, please call our office 406-549-1124 or visit our website @ https://montanamedicalresearch.com/studies/ #!/
