Happy Chinese New Year!! We are entering the year of the dog. In Chinese medicine, the dog is the animal paired with the Pericardium, the heart protector. Our Pericardium functions like a dog guarding the door to our hearts - letting in that which serves us and keeping out that which does us harm. Pathologies associated with the pericardium include being too closed (not letting anything or anyone in) or being too open (letting in everything and everyone indiscriminately). The pericardium is the primary organ associated with love and intimacy.
