Yes, we see newborns!⠀

Here at Montana Whole Health we typically spend 45-60 minutes with families for well child visits, focusing on optimizing health for children. Parents and caregivers tell us that they love our approach to well child care. During these visits we help troubleshoot parenting problems, discuss childhood nutrition (including picky eating strategies), and help parents anticipate really common developmental or behavioral issues at every stage. We want to prevent health problems before they even start! In other words: we help your child THRIVE.

All of this starts on the very first day of life!

Here is our protocol for seeing new babies:⠀
* Families new to Montana Whole Health need to schedule a 15-minute “meet & greet” at Montana Whole Health at least 1 month prior to your due date!⠀
* If your baby is born in a hospital they will have their first neonatal checkup completed by the staff pediatrician. Your baby will also receive a checkup before they are discharged from the hospital. Babies born in a hospital should be seen in our office 2-3 days after discharge.⠀
* If your baby is born at home or at The Birth Center they will need to have a checkup in our office within 48 hours (preferably 24 hours).⠀
* Please call the office as soon as your family is settled at home to schedule your child’s first well child check. If your child has any complications during or shortly after birth please continue to see his/her pediatrician (assigned in the hospital) until they are discharged to “standard” outpatient care.⠀
* Please have the hospital, birth center or midwife fax records to (406) 203-5130 shortly after birth.⠀

We do have limited availability for newborns. If you are expecting call soon to schedule a free 15-minute “meet & greet” appointment.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We have 6 nearly empty freezers.
We serve a very large area including Montana, Idaho, Washington, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota. Sometimes we even extend outside of this area to help other milk banks!
Within that we serve 12 hospitals with 5 have NICUs with the tiniest of babies!
We also have over 20 outpatients with babies and moms needs varying.
- We have 1 local Medicaid baby who relies solely on breastmilk.
- We have 3 babies currently in foster care who were subjected to drugs and/or alcohol in utero.
- We have many babies whose sweet mamas just can’t keep up and are dedicated to keeping them on only donor milk.

We are desperate for more milk donors in order to keep up with these babies, to keep them healthy and thriving. Please share and spread the word, we are happy to answer any and all questions around donating, and we truly try to do as much as the leg work during the process as we can!

We appreciate our donors and truly can’t do what we do without them. ♥️

Research shows that outdoor time promotes creativity, reduces stress, builds confidence and lowers inattention. Nature play also reduces stress and anxiety for children.⠀

We recommend 2+ hours of nature play EVERY day. ⠀

If outdoor nature time isn't possible the effects are still there when you bring nature home. Sticks, sand, leaves, mud and indoor houseplants are great ways to have "indoor" nature time. ⠀
