PARENT EDUCATION WEEK: According to Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, the efficacy data between 11-year-olds and 12-year-olds is the same. Therefore, doctors say parents should get their 11-year-olds vaccinated as soon as possible rather than wait for them to turn 12 to get an adult dose.

In exciting news, the CDC approved COVID vaccine for 5-11 year olds today. Have questions about the vaccine? We are happy to help answer them!

Your first question might be how to get the vaccine for your child. We have a plan in place that will allow us to offer vaccines to eligible patients within the very near future. Scheduling information will be available in the next 24-48 hours. Stay tuned to our website, social media and My Chart messages for updates!

Yesterday, a number of you voiced interest in a PDF for pediatric COVID19 vaccines. I updated my latest draft by adding information for the 5-11 year olds and recent epidemiology.

And yes, your friendly pediatric providers recommend the COVID vaccine for everybody 12 and older!

As of Tuesday, August 17, 66.9% of Missoula County residents ages 12 and older have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Missoula County continues to lead the state in vaccinations, but we want to do even better!

Only 38% of 12 to 14-year-olds, 57.6% of 15 to 19-year-olds, and 50.2% of 20 to 29-year-olds have gotten one dose. Let’s get more vaccines out there before school starts!

Retirement well earned!! Amazing leader for the past 7 years!!

Pam Cutler, MD is retiring from the Presidency of Western Montana Clinic. She has been amazing for the last 7 years, offering superb leadership. Today was her last day. The new President starts tomorrow, and has big shoes (metaphorically) to fill.
