Her latest book is Naked: Botanical Recipes for Vibrant Skin and Healthy Hair. Elaine is the Co-Director of Green Path Herb School, located in Missoula, Montana, where she strives to inspire and empower students and clients to remember their connection to the earth, the plants, and their own healing process. If you’d like to learn more about medicinal plants, you can connect with Elaine, and Green Path Herb School via the Green Path Website or through social media: Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Twitter, or Instagram. You can find out more about Elaine and her life work at GreenPathHerbSchool.com. John Goicovich first started studying plants in the early 90s on the coast of California. It was not until moving to the Rocky Mountains in 1993 that his interest became a lifetime commitment. John’s first love of herbs was always the connection between plants and people and the personal involvement in making one’s own remedies. For the last twenty years, John has worked on deepening that connection, and his favorite thing to do besides making herbal remedies is sharing with others how to make their own medicine. John has owned and operated Meadowsweet Herbs in Missoula for the last 17 years with his wife and herbalist, Elaine. Along with their two boys and dog, they call Montana home.

Most people think mushrooms are mysterious or risky.

In reality, they’re one of the easiest and most rewarding foods and medicines you can grow — even in a small apartment or backyard.

We’re hosting a free online class with Chris Gilmour (Chris Outdoors & Wild Muskoka Botanicals) where you’ll learn:
• How to grow edible and medicinal mushrooms at home
• How to recognize mushrooms in the wild
• How fungi fit into healthy soil, forests, and human health

If mushrooms have ever made you curious, this is a beautiful place to start.

This free online class will be April 8th at 5 pm mountain time.

We had our second herbal body care class today in our Herbalist Certificate Program. We made lip balm and bath bombs. This is our latest iteration of our vegan lip balm recipe. It’s a little “dry”, imo. So maybe a little more herbal oil next time? I used 1 ounce each of calendula and plantain oils. See the third picture for the recipe. If you make it, please let us know what you think! 👄❤️

There is an ancient concept known as Anima Mundi—the soul of the world. It’s the idea that the Earth isn’t just a spinning rock, but a living, breathing entity, and that we humans are an inseparable part of its spirit.

Ideally, we should be intimately woven into this “more-than-human” world. But for many of us, that thread has been frayed. We feel a deep, quiet sorrow or a “great emptiness” where that connection used to be. Too often, we try to fill that void with consumerism, social media, or temporary distractions, but nothing quite sticks. What we are actually longing for is a seat at the great table of life.

The good news? The door is always open. Whether it’s through gardening, playing with a pet, or simply sitting under a tree, we can find our way back. One of the most profound bridges I’ve found in my decades as an herbalist is the practice of connecting with plants.

Want to be and Herbalist?

Imagine you are walking through the forest near your home. As you look around you, you start noticing the plants growing nearby. Imagine knowing each of these plants; understanding how to use them, when to harvest them and which parts to use. Envision being able to make these plants into medicines such as salves, oils, pills, syrups and tinctures. How would it feel to help others use these herbal medicines for healing purposes? These are the skills of an herbalist.

We offer natural health related classes both in person and on line (coming soon!). Our offerings include: Lots of free recipes and information for everyone! See our website! And check out our herbal articles and recipes.
