Fit to Fight Fall Session participants and volunteers wrapped up October and brought in November with a fun Halloween Circuit developed by one of our hard working University of Montana School of Physical Therapy Students. Class was then followed by a short discussion on the importance of exercise during cancer treatment and recovery. We were happy to hear participants share personal success stories in how Fit to Fight has helped them recover faster and reach personal strength and fitness goals!

STRONGER THAN CANCER

Cancer treatments often leave the body diminished in function, affecting one’s state of mind and quality of life. Medical studies prove that exercise helps minimize the detrimental side-effects of cancer treatment, aiding in the return to a better quality of life. FIT TO FIGHT helps cancer survivors re-establish trust in their bodies and return to daily life as productive members of our community.

FIT TO FIGHT is an exercise based cancer support program that runs three 8-week sessions per year. We meet twice per week during the sessions at PEAK Health and Wellness, 5000 Blue Mountain Road. The small organized group exercise sessions include individual tailoring. Each session consists of stretching, breathing & relaxation, resistive strengthening, and endurance training. Sessions are designed and supervised by a physical therapist.

A physical therapist directly oversees the program and is available to all participants for questions or advice. This program does not replace the important individual skilled physical therapist that many oncology patients may need initially.
