Each person will have their own separate set of massage cups used on them (no sharing, ewww). We are able to offer discounted rates as we are using the same space, and one massage therapist will attend to everyone. (While using hygienic principles and proper sanitizing, of course!)
What is Cupping Therapy?
A centuries old therapy with roots in many cultures from around the globe. Considered to be a type of Vacuum Therapy, which utilizes negative pressure and decompressive/vacuum therapy type techniques, rather than tissue compression, to accomplish superior results in a wide array of bodywork techniques. The therapeutic Art of Cupping is a traditional treatment that has been utilized for many purposes, including pain relief and treating soft tissue injuries, and it has been shown to be a remarkably effective healing therapy.
Cupping can help with pain management, injury and surgical recovery, enhancement of athletic performance, treatment of cellulite, and to also help with many joint ailments. Cupping therapy can help to release rigid soft tissue and adhesions, helps to facilitate fluid movement in the body and also therein the movement of lymph fluid to the lymph filters of the body. It can help with the draining of excess fluids, lifts and increases circulation to the connective tissue and muscles, and brings blood flow (including the nutrients and oxygen that the blood carries) to stagnant tissue including skin and muscles.
Give it a try! It can be especially helpful for that stubborn back pain or joint issues that just won't go away....
Please note: When receiving Cupping Therapy, there is a chance for cupping marks - red or pink circles/marks that can be left on the skin following treatments. (Like the marks that showed up on Michael Phelps' back when he was competing in the Olympics, remember that?) These discolorations dissipate/disappear usually within a day or two following treatments, but can last as long as 2 weeks in some instances.
