Join us during Community Midwife Month as recognized by Saint Louis County every month of October, for the inaugural “History of Black Midwifery” event hosted by Jamaa Birth Village & The Missouri Historical Society, at the Missouri History Museum on Thursday October 17, 2024. The evening begins with Happy Hour at 5pm featuring personalized gallery talks on the history of Midwives in Missouri, followed by the formal event & presentation from 6:30-8:00pm. We’ll also celebrate the commemoration of Jamaa Birth Village’s 10th anniversary, so mark your calendars and get ready for a wonderful autumn evening and historical celebration of Black Midwives.🎊

Friends, I used to be a person who felt I had no connection to my own placenta and my baby's placenta. It turned out I was carrying a huge wound left behind from the way I was separated from my own placenta and how my babies were separated from theirs. With every child I had and the learning evolution that occurred thereafter, I became more conscious to the fact that placentas being treated like medical waste is a huge disservice to humanity. It's also a beautiful opportunity we have to honor and respect our babies as people who matter on this planet!

I hope to help families honor their baby's placenta and the process of separation that occurs in a gentle, conscious, and respectful way.

Placenta consultations will always be a free service! Please reach out and let's work together to form a placenta plan for your upcoming birth!

During our interactions, I want you to feel supported and cherished because you truly are worth it! Honoring your baby's placenta is crucial to me, as well as honoring you. It is always my goal that these values shine through and that you can feel the love that goes into my work in every detail.

By the way friends, some of you know I have my doula services currently on hold while I have a newborn at home. I am however excited and ready to begin offering various placenta services! Today is Bereaved Mother's Day.

If you didn't know this day existed, you might be one of the lucky ones. If you did know this day existed, please know that you're not alone.

Today is the day we honor all of the Mothers who have heavy hearts.

❤️ We honor those still waiting for their miracle.
❤️ We honor those who have had failed fertility treatments.
❤️ We honor those who have lost their embryos.
❤️ We honor those who have had a pregnancy end too soon.
❤️ We honor those who have suffered a stillbirth.
❤️ We honor those who have lost their babies.
❤️ We honor those who have lost their children.

We acknowledge that not all mothers will enjoy Mother's Day. It's a painful reminder of what they've lost, what they no longer have, or what hasn't come easily.

Once a mother, always a mother.
Loss doesn't change that.

I'm admiring these sweet gifts and notes sent the last couple of weeks from the special clients that have woven their way into my life journey. Those experiences are the real treasures but these tokens of appreciation really do touch my heart!
I know I'm right where I'm needed and that I can make a difference for others and that truly means the world to me!
