Moberly, Mo Animal Control/ Dog Pound We service the City Limits of Moberly by enforcing current ordinances and state laws. This is the official page for the Moberly, MO Animal Shelter.

We are licensed by the Department of Ag as a City Dog Pound, Unfortunately WE DO NOT ACCEPT CATS as we do not have the proper set up to care for their many needs. Welcome and please read the RULES of the page. Thanks for stopping by! We’re a City Dog Pound, and we ask that you follow a few simple rules while you’re here:

2. Please treat everyone, including our employees, and followers with courtesy. No name-calling, vulgar language, or poor behavior. Please don’t post spam, advertising or off-topic posts. Obey Facebook’s terms and conditions.


3. We understand that opinions may differ regarding breed standards, rules, practice policies or procedures. Please keep comments positive and productive, and reflect responsible pet ownership.


4. Please represent yourself truthfully. No fake profiles or false organizations.

5. Our main goal is to find loving homes for dogs that are left behind and to care for them in the best way possible while they are under our care. Please share our posts so lost dogs can be reunited and those not claimed can find new homes. The Moberly Pound is also Animal Control. The staff members help both Humans and Animals and also run, clean, and adopt animals to new loving home. All dogs adopted from this facility are FULLY vetted including HW Test and Microchip as added care. We serve the City Limits of Moberly ONLY. When a dog is picked up as a stray it is put on 5 Day Stray Hold. This hold period is per the Department of AG Guideline, after the hold period ends the dog becomes the property of the animal shelter. The HOUNDS Program (This program is for SHELTER DOGS ONLY and is not available to the general public- All dogs entering this program are Spayed/ Neutered, Up-To-Date on all their shots and Flea/ Tick/ Worm Medicine, Heartworm Tested & Micro-Chipped and sent to the Moberly Correctional Center to be taught Basic Obedience by the Inmates. The Program is 8 Weeks Long. How to Reclaim Your Dog:
We ask that you bring a Collar And Leash of your own when when you come to claim a lost dog or adopt a dog. You will also need to bring CASH OR CHECK for the impound fees along with a copy of your drivers license and Proof of Ownership ( Vet Records in your name) The impound fee is $25.00 initial intake then $8.00 per day for each day the dog is here. After 5 days the dog becomes the property of the animal shelter and will be adopted out.

This will be a process and take some time to catch him either by hand or via trap...

We kindly ask that you do not call, yell, chase or feed him as we need to establish a consistent feeding pattern for him.

How could anyone resist that smile!

Meet Noel!

She was found all alone in the cold and no owner has stepped up to claim her. She is around 2-3 years old and weighs 10lbs. She has done well with everyone she meets including other dogs. She is a bit unsure of kids under the age of 5, meaning she would need time to warm up to their actions and loudness at times. We do recommend her being adopted by someone who does not have toddlers in the home simply because we do not have the resources to fully test her in a home with toddlers.

Noel will be fully vetted including, Spay, all Vaccines including Rabies, Dewormed, Heartworm Tested, Placed on Monthly Preventatives as well as microchipped. (Her Vet Appointment is on 12/17)

The local Alpha Tau Chapter is having a pet food drive this holiday season, and a drop-off box has been placed in the lobby of the Moberly Library.

Please bring unopened, unexpired dog food, food and water dishes, towels, blankets, dog toys, collars, leashes, hand sanitizer, and cleaning supplies (trash bags, dish soap, paper towels, etc.). Donations will benefit the Moberly Animal Shelter.

Our Story

Moberly Animal Shelter is both the Shelter and Animal Control. The Shelter provides services for dogs within the city limits of Moberly, MO.

Staff members care for the dogs that are currently in the shelter along with catching dogs that have wandered too far or have been left to fend on their own, we also handle neglect and abuse cases.
