It is with a heavy heart that the Hils Pharmacy family shares the news of the passing of our mentor, former colleague, and dear friend, Bill Buntin. For many of us, including myself, Bill was the reason we chose this path. I first worked for him at Buntin Pharmacy in 1997 at sixteen years old and with his mentorship, was able to attend the pre-pharmacy program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City where I later graduated. As a pharmacist, I once again worked for Buntin Pharmacy as a relief pharmacist so Bill could play golf.
When Bill’s son Derek Buntin turned 16 years old it was an honor to employ him at Hils Pharmacy. Even after retiring, Bill returned as a relief pharmacist at Hils Pharmacy in 2019, because he truly loved his work and our community. He was a valued colleague, friend and a wonderful father to our coworker, Derek.
To honor his memory, Hils Pharmacy will be closed tomorrow, November 3rd, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. so our staff can attend his service.
Bill Buntin will be greatly missed.
Hils pharmacy staff will do our best to make him proud and of course make time to play some golf in his honor.
