Today, on World AIDS Day, we come together to honor and remember those we’ve lost to AIDS-related illnesses and to stand in solidarity with everyone living with HIV.
Since the first World AIDS Day in 1988, we have made incredible progress, but HIV is still with us and our work is far from over.
Today, more tools than ever help prevent HIV transmission, including PrEP, condoms, and the power of Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U). Testing is easier and treatment is more accessible. Yet too many communities still face barriers to prevention, care, and support.
And while science has advanced, stigma remains. Stigma keeps people from getting the services they need and deserves no place in our communities.
To truly end HIV, everyone must be included, with no exceptions and no one left behind.
On this World AIDS Day, we remember those we have lost, acknowledge how far we have come, and recommit to the work ahead. At AIDS Alabama South, we stand with every community to ensure that everyone is supported, informed, and empowered.
The only way to know your status is to get tested. We offer free HIV testing at our SHELL Health Clinic.
We are in this together. ❤️🕊️
