Thank You Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church-Whistler, Inc. & the Martha Phillips Junior Usher Board for the opportunity to present this morning's discussion.

We had an engaging conversation on practical ways to break free from daily stress by clicking our internal "Control–Alternate–Delete" buttons for a mental and emotional reset.

We concluded our talk with a progressive deep-breathing exercise, allowing everyone to leave the session and transition into their church service feeling grounded, refreshed, and restored.

Let's Talk Mental Health - Adolescent and Adult Attention Seeking Behaviors.

Childhood attention-seeking behaviors manifesting into adulthood, such as tantrums or dramatic outbursts often stem from unmet emotional needs, neglect, or learned, reinforced behavioral patterns in juvenile development.

These attention-seeking patterns can manifest in adults as chronic, disruptive, and manipulative, behaviors that can include excessive drama, Clinginess, fishing for compliments, feigning for attention, inability to self-regulate, controlling behaviors, attempts to illicit sympathies, exaggerated illnesses, or volatile behaviors and mood swings.

From juvenile development to adult coping mechanisms, these behaviors are symptomatic from unresolved childhood trauma, low self-esteem, or underlying mental health conditions such as, borderline, narcissism, and histrionic personality disorder.

Understand how ABA tackles attention-seeking behavior by teaching children healthier ways to engage and communicate.

STILL THINK MENTAL ILLNESS
SHOULD BE KEPT A SECRET????

Statistics indicated that 1 in 5 U.S. Adults are living with a mental health disorder and 1 in 8 Adults WORLDWIDE which is about 450 million people currently live with a mental health disorder. Which means you personally know several people managing their lives despite having a mental health disorder.

Mental Disorders are complex and have different levels of severity: MILD, MODERATE, SEVERE. The earlier a person seeks therapy will decrease their risk of developing severe mental illness. People often fail to seek therapy because of their limited awareness of the mental health symptoms, stigma associated mental health treatments, and limited access to mentalhealth resources.

So, How Can You Help?
(1) Keep Educating Yourself About Mental Health & Mental Illness
(2) Normalize discusses about mental health with your medical professional, your family/friends, and even on your job.
(3) Ask your medical insurance about your mental and behavioral health benefits, and if you do not have coverage, then request coverage. Did You Know That Many Employers Now Offer EAP Benefits Which Allows An Employee and/or Family Members of the Employee FREE COUNSELING SERVICES To Address Issues Such As Marriage & Family, Grief, Anxiety, Job Stress, and Other Issues? These FREE COUNSELING SESSIONS can total anywhere from 3-10 sessions per year, depending on your EAP plan.
