When extreme cold hit, Mobile County came together – and lives were protected.

From Jan. 25–Feb. 1, 2026, local government, nonprofits, and faith-based partners coordinated a rapid cold-weather response to care for our neighbors. Together, 2,195 people were sheltered, 6,270 meals were served, and volunteers gave 1,944 hours to keep our community safe.

This effort reflects the strength of collaboration and timely action – and the meaningful impact that’s possible when organizations and local government work together. Thank you to every partner and volunteer who made this response possible.

A strong cold front is coming this weekend, stay weather aware!

🥶HEADS UP - A strong cold front will sweep across the area late this weekend. Forecast guidance has started to trend colder behind this front. Low temperatures potentially plunge into the teens to 20s with wind chill potentially falling into the teens by early Monday morning. This is not a slam dunk forecast by any means; however, we want to ensure everyone is aware that bitterly cold conditions are possible by Monday morning.

Remember the 5 P's of cold weather preparation: Protect people, pets, pipes, plants, and practice fire safety.
