Trauma isn’t always loud. It can show up in broken trust, emotional neglect, or years spent in survival mode. You don’t need bruises to carry wounds. Your experience is valid, even if it doesn’t look like someone else’s.
You are not “too sensitive.” You are deeply attuned.
You are not “too emotional.” You are human.
In trauma recovery, reclaiming your story begins by rejecting labels that were never yours to carry.
You don’t have to shrink to survive anymore. You get to take up space and heal. Learn more with Acknowledge & Heal: A Women-Focused Guide to PTSD https://bit.ly/WomensGuidePTSD

Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that your mental health matters. Mental health struggles are not weaknesses, and needing support does not make you a burden. Recovery doesn’t look the same for everyone, and that’s okay.

STILL THINK MENTAL ILLNESS
SHOULD BE KEPT A SECRET????

Statistics indicated that 1 in 5 U.S. Adults are living with a mental health disorder and 1 in 8 Adults WORLDWIDE which is about 450 million people currently live with a mental health disorder. Which means you personally know several people managing their lives despite having a mental health disorder.

Mental Disorders are complex and have different levels of severity: MILD, MODERATE, SEVERE. The earlier a person seeks therapy will decrease their risk of developing severe mental illness. People often fail to seek therapy because of their limited awareness of the mental health symptoms, stigma associated mental health treatments, and limited access to mentalhealth resources.

So, How Can You Help?
(1) Keep Educating Yourself About Mental Health & Mental Illness
(2) Normalize discusses about mental health with your medical professional, your family/friends, and even on your job.
(3) Ask your medical insurance about your mental and behavioral health benefits, and if you do not have coverage, then request coverage. Did You Know That Many Employers Now Offer EAP Benefits Which Allows An Employee and/or Family Members of the Employee FREE COUNSELING SERVICES To Address Issues Such As Marriage & Family, Grief, Anxiety, Job Stress, and Other Issues? These FREE COUNSELING SESSIONS can total anywhere from 3-10 sessions per year, depending on your EAP plan.

As a Therapist, hearing about these recent events are so disheartening. Knowing peope are suffering in silence, grieves my soul. If you or someone you know is suffering with mental/emotional pain or illness, PLEASE DO NOT REMAIN SILENT.

We are human and we all experience mental and emotional pains many times in our lifetime. And at time, these experiences are traumatic and disabling. PLEASE DO NOT REMAIN SILENT.

It is estimated that approximately 1 in 5 Adults live with a mental illness. PLEASE DO NOT REMAIN SILENT.

Fifty percent (50%) of mental health problems are established by age 14. PLEASE DO NOT REMAIN SILENT.

Access to mental health services can be challenging and sometimes inadequate, but quality resources are available. PLEASE DO NOT REMAIN SILENT.

In our community, we have MANY mental health providers that offer quality services such as private therapists (like me at LPC Services, LLC Behavioral Health Specialist), psychiatrist, psychologist, psychiatric nurse practitioners, school counselors, social workers, case managers and other support services. Many do not know that access to some private therapists can be free through your employer's EAP (employee assistance program). Just contact your human resource manager to inquire if your company offers these CONFIDENTIAL services.
PLEASE DO NOT REMAIN SILENT.

Below is just a quick list of resources helpful to post in your schools, churches, businesses, community agencies, etc.
