⭐️ Physician Highlight: Dr. Jonathan Holmes

Dr. Holmes spent his childhood living in Arizona, Florida, and Maine before pursuing his undergraduate degree in psychology at Hillsdale College in Michigan. He earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean in Saint Martin and is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and has served as both a member and past President of the Mobile Pediatrics Society.

Dr. Holmes and his wife, Angelique, have two daughters, Lila and Vera. Outside of the office, he enjoys spending time with his family and their Goldendoodles. When he’s not with patients or family, you can find him SCUBA diving, competing in triathlons, or out on the golf course.

⭐️ Physician Highlight: Dr. Lisa McDonough

Dr. McDonough is a native of Mobile, Alabama, and has been caring for patients at Children’s Medical Group for over 20 years. She earned both her undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of South Alabama and completed her pediatric training at the University of Florida’s Shands Hospital. Even more special—she was once a patient at the practice herself!

Dr. McDonough is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Mobile Society. She is a proud mom of three and loves spending her free time on the river—whether she’s fishing, kayaking, or relaxing on the wharf with friends.

Children often get busy playing and may not recognize when they’re thirsty. Making water easily available throughout the day can help prevent dehydration.
Helpful hydration tips for kids:

💧 Send a refillable water bottle to school or activities
💧 Encourage water before, during, and after outdoor play
💧 Offer water regularly, even if they don’t ask for it
💧 Include water-rich foods like watermelon, cucumbers, and oranges

Signs a child may need more fluids include fatigue, headaches, dry lips, or dark yellow urine.
