Vets Recover

Vets Recover Our mission is to remove barriers to care, deliver quality integrated health care, and build a better community through recovery and connection.

Our programs serve the unique needs of Service Members, Veterans, First Responders, and their families. They may be home, but their battle rages on. With their memory. With their traumas. With themselves. One veteran in four suffers from serious mental health issues, often turning to drugs, alcohol, and even suicide to end their pain. Yet now there’s a place they can turn before it’s too late: Vet

erans Recovery Resources, a new community-based mental wellness program that’s designed for the specific needs of veterans—regardless of their ability to pay. With the help of empathic, specially-trained professionals, veterans can quickly begin the road back to healthier and more meaningful lives.

Thursday morning , Vets Recover had the honor of hosting a 3‑hour workshop with an incredible group of Veteran Serving Organizations: Iron Ruck, BondFire Ranch , to Cowboys, Inc. , Warrior Legacy Ranch , Sage Health, and Samson’s Strength Sustainable Veterans Project.

Together, we dug into how we can better collaborate, support one another, and remove barriers to care for those who served.

This is just the beginning. We look forward to many more workshops and a growing partnership with these teammates in the mission.

Veterans uniting to push for a better future is how we make change—and we’re proud to be in this fight, side by side.

We’re incredibly grateful for everyone who came out and made the Vets Recover Health Fair such a meaningful day.

From the veterans and families, to the volunteers, vendors, and community partners who gave their time and energy, thank you. Events like this are a reminder that healing doesn’t happen alone, it happens in community.

Seeing people connect, learn, and take steps toward better health is exactly why we do what we do.

We’re proud to stand alongside a community that truly cares.

Our 2 Overcome Program just wrapped up an incredible NAUI TRY SCUBA event in Gulf Shores at the Community Center Pool

We had 8 veterans and family members gear up, get in the water, and experience SCUBA for the very first time—facing fears, building confidence, and finding a new love for “blowing bubbles” beneath the surface. It was powerful to watch the smiles, high-fives, and breakthroughs as they discovered what they’re capable of.

This is just one of the many ways we’re creating opportunities for connection, recovery, and growth through new experiences. We’ve got classes and more events coming up in the months ahead, so be sure to follow us and keep an eye out for the next announcement—you don’t want to miss it.

Last Friday we had an amazing afternoon with our friends at Vets to Cowboys, Inc., and we’re still feeling grateful.
We were able to bring veterans from our programs, along getting to spend time with other veterans and family members, out to the ranch to:

- Learn about pasture rotation and rotational grazing

- Spend time with show calves and talk livestock care

- Explore NRCS and USDA programs that support land stewardship and agriculture opportunities for veterans

Experiences like this remind us that there are many paths to recovery, growth, healing, and forging a new sense of purpose.

Huge thank you to Vets 2 Cowboys for opening their gates, sharing their knowledge, and welcoming our veteran community so warmly.

Scuba diving has a way of slowing everything down and making you be present in the moment. We give Veterans space to breathe again and reset with positive communal outings.

Thank you to the Georgia Aquarium and The Home Depot Foundation for making this happen.

If you're a veteran struggling with drugs or alcohol, visit Vets Recover at 1200 Spring Hill Avenue in Mobile, AL, for a rehabilitation program built by veterans, for veterans.

Healing doesn’t always happen in a room
Sometimes, it happens in the water… surrounded by something bigger than yourself.

Most people see a scuba tank, we see a path to healing.

Our H2O (Helping 2 Overcome) program goes beyond certification. It’s an adventure-based peer support system built to address PTSD, isolation, and anxiety through shared experience and trust.

Studies suggest diving’s weightlessness and deep focus can significantly ease PTSD symptoms. At Vets Recover, we don’t just talk about recovery, we practice it in the water.

Veterans and families alike are welcome. The mission is simple: never heal alone.

Help us celebrate our April Team Member of the Month, Scotty Irwin!

Scotty is a proud U.S. Army veteran who now serves her fellow veterans through our Rooted In Recovery Program, bringing the same dedication, discipline, and heart she showed in uniform. She shows up every day with compassion, creativity, and a deep commitment to our veterans and their families, from facilitating groups and activities to offering a steady, supportive presence when it’s needed most.

We are incredibly grateful for Scotty’s military service and for the impact she makes here at Vets Recover every single day. Drop a comment below to help us thank her for all she does for our community!

At Vets Recover, transformation is usually a story, but now you can see it. Thanks to Lowe’s Hometowns, our courtyard has evolved from plain concrete into a healing space where veterans can connect and benefit from aquatic therapy.

We talk a lot about transformation at Vets Recover, but this time, you can see it in the bricks and mortar. A massive salute to Lowe’s Hometowns for their incredible grant, and everybody else that made this possible.

Thanks to their support, our courtyard is no longer just a space, it’s a sanctuary.
