Thank you to Doris and Eddy Moody from the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation for stopped by the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute to donate 46 holiday bags to comfort the gynecological oncology patients for the upcoming holiday season. The bags were full of support items such as knitted hats, socks, hand cream, tea, ginger chews, hot chocolate, and more along with information and resources for support groups and peer mentorship programs for patients.

The American Public Health Association held their 2025 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., early November and was attended by USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute’s Casey Daniel, PhD, MPH, director of epidemiology and public health, and associate professor of family medicine at the University of South Alabama Fredrick P. Whiddon College of Medicine, Alyssa Burch, MPH, research assistant, and Myra Bajwa, senior at USA. The theme was "Making the Public's Health a National Priority,” where Daniel had three poster presentations: "Vaccine Hesitancy and Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccine Beliefs among College Students in the Deep South" and "Uptake, Completion, and Knowledge of HPV Vaccine among Alabamian College Students," both of which were presented by Burch, and "Identifying Barriers for Community Pharmacies as Vaccines for Children (VFC) Providers in Rural Alabama," presented by Bajwa.

Thank you to Vigor High School's football team for stopping by the Mitchell Cancer Institute to sit with patients and hand out care bags in an effort to support breast cancer awareness. Thirty comfort care bags were distributed to patients on site at MCI. In addition, the football team spent time one-on-one with patients in the lobby to connect and support those who were there to receive their cancer treatment.
