The Mobile County Health Department’s (MCHD) COVID-19 Response Team will again provide rapid testing at its Festival Centre location for a limited time.

Dr. Rendi Murphree, who oversees the Bureau of Disease Surveillance and Control, has announced that approximately 2,000 Rapid BinaxNOW antigen tests have been secured. Individual appointments must be made online, and each person must present proof of their appointment.

“We are happy to increase the availability of COVID-19 testing in our community during Mardi Gras and the 10 days after Fat Tuesday,” Dr. Murphree said. “Because of the small number of tests available, we will limit testing to 100 persons per day by appointment only.”

An appointment can be made by visiting the following link -- https://appointments.mchd.org. Each client must present proof of their appointment when they arrive at the Festival Centre. Appointments will be available on Friday, February 18 and continue through Friday, March 11. All MCHD and Family Health locations will be closed Monday, February 28, and Tuesday, March 1, in observance of Mardi Gras.

The Festival Centre (Suite 101-A) is located at the corner of Airport Boulevard and Montlimar Drive in West Mobile. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Vaccines

Those wishing to receive either the Pfizer (adult or pediatric), Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson vaccines on Saturdays will need to visit the Keeler Memorial Building at 251 North Bayou Street in Downtown Mobile. This service will be available from 8 a.m. to noon in the old Urgent Care at the front of the building.

During the week, the same COVID-19 vaccines are available at the Festival Centre. As with other MCHD vaccination events, these will follow a first-come, first-served format. No appointments will be taken.

Outreach events

The COVID-19 Response Team also continues to provide vaccinations throughout the community. Among those scheduled are the following:

On Thursday, February 17, MCHD will provide vaccine at VIA! Health, Fitness and Enrichment Center (1717 Dauphin Street in Mobile) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. MCHD will offer patients the choice of Pfizer (adult or pediatric) or Moderna vaccine.

On Saturday, February 19, MCHD will provide vaccine at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church (545 Cody Road in Mobile) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. MCHD will offer the Pfizer (adult or pediatric) vaccine.

On Wednesday, February 23, MCHD will provide vaccine at Pine Grove Baptist Church (19130 Pine Grove Road in Mount Vernon) from 3 to 5 p.m. MCHD will offer the Pfizer (adult or pediatric) vaccine.

On Thursday, February 24, MCHD will provide vaccine at New Hope Outreach Ministry (1007 Spring Hill Avenue in Mobile) from 10 a.m. to noon. MCHD will offer patients the choice of Pfizer (adult), Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
