Kids Can Do provides physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy for children in a clinic setting that includes dedicated therapy rooms and a large therapy gym with specialized equipment.

There can be better “Choices” for early intervention (EI) services. Although the state of Illinois provides EI services for young children (birth – age 3) with developmental delays, services may not be free depending on income level, and children who could benefit from therapy are not always eligible for services under the state program’s criteria. Also, typically there is a wait list for evaluations and therapy. Kids Can Do offers timely evaluations and private onsite therapy. Currently there are morning and early afternoon appointments available with no wait. Find out more about Choices, EI options for families, on the Kids Can Do website.

Sensory Activities in the Community: Registration is underway for the Frankfort library’s Sensory Hour program on November 20th, 9:30 – 10:30 am. The sensory time emphasizes fine motor skills for little ones up to age 5. Frankfort Public Library District (FPLD) cardholders are given priority, non FPLD cardholders can join the pending waitlist. Sometimes babies (birth to age 1) may need physical, occupational, or speech (feeding) therapy to help them develop skills critical to their learning, development and well-being. Starting therapy early can result in achieving the best outcomes for babies and their families. PT Month – Quick PT Tip from Allison: Tummy time is important, and it doesn’t have to be so hard! If your little one is still learning how to lift their head on their forearms, adding a small towel roll under the shoulders during supervised tummy time can help them shift their weight backward to make it easier for them to lift their head. You can add some engagement by talking, singing or holding up a colorful toy. ❤ PT!
