Today marked R&R Acupuncture’s 6th anniversary!

I saw my first patient at my very own practice 6 years ago today. How perfect to celebrate by having a full day of patients. I even saw a couple of absolutely wonderful clients today that I have been treating since the beginning! 💙

In the past 6 years, I have performed over 10,000 acupuncture treatments, treated hundreds of people from toddlers to adults, relieved pain, helped women become pregnant and have healthy babies, solved seemingly “unsolvable” ailments, and above all: given people hope, relief, and a safe space to heal.

Thank you to all of my lovely patients for inviting me on your healing journey, your trust in this medicine, and for all of your love and support!

Happy Monday!

It’s a chilly one out there, and summer is starting to turn to autumn early. Help your body adjust to the transition by ditching the ice in your water, and adding warming teas like ginger or turmeric to your morning routine! More on that in the coming days.

It’s been a LONG TIME since I made a post on here, but I think it’s about time to come back! I kept waiting for a good excuse to make my first post after a long (and much needed) social media break…so I’m using a new pillow as the reason! It adds that extra touch of relaxation to my Wood treatment room, doesn’t it?

This is my favorite treatment room, bringing elements of nature indoors. The leaf pillow, a lampshade with dried leaves pressed into it, pictures of trees, and dried herbs from my mother’s herb garden help to bring a sense of peace and balance with nature during treatments. 💚

Today reminds us to spread & show love to others, but what about ourselves? 💕

When was the last time you felt love for yourself?

Your mind?

Your body?

This week I am going to be posting about how to show your body and mind more love.

With the chaos of everyday life, it is easy to brush our mental health aside. Keeping a quiet and peaceful mindset is every bit as important as physical health.

Let me say that again. YOUR MENTAL HEALTH IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH.💙

Remember to take breaks for yourself...

✨Meditate
✨Do some yoga
✨Take a walk in nature
✨Journal
✨Read a book
✨Put down your cell phone and be present
✨Practice mindfulness
✨Take a nap (I'm loving this one these days😂😴👩‍🍼)

Extra tips:
💖There is also an acupuncture point called Yintang. This point is located directly between the eyebrows, and has a profound effect on how the body responds to stress. Press your thumb gently between your eyebrows and take 3-5 slow, deep breaths to calm the mind, improve sleep, and reduce anxiety.

💖Some oils to help calm the mind include chamomile, lavender, sandalwood, ylang ylang, and frankincense. Use these in a diffuser to create a calming environment at home.

💖Last but not least, consider an acupuncture session designed specifically for mental health and relaxation. Nothing centers the mind and body quite like an acu-nap!

Reach out to me with any questions, yes I am on maternity leave, but I will still be checking my inbox on occasion (so there may be a bit of a delay - but I will respond🙏)! Namaste. ☮️

Here's a visual if you aren't sure what exactly acupuncture is or how it helps 🙌

I truly believe acupuncture is magical! It has helped so much in my own personal healing journey and I am able to share those benefits with all of my clients.

Each year we all tend to see our feeds flooded with images and quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

It’s amazing to see and read, and it serves as a great reminder, however, I want to encourage you to go beyond that.

He was a remarkable leader who spoke out against injustice and helped to create a legacy that would forever inspire change.

Today, I'd like to bring you a few options to get involved, other than sharing a quote or teaching.

To get involved:
💙Watch the "I Have A Dream" speech and then participate in an act of service in your community.

💙 If you're local to Chicago, visit DuSable Museum of African American History and see "The March" exhibit, (visit their website at https://www.dusablemuseum.org) or the Chicago History Museum and see the "Remembering Dr. King: 1929-1968" exhibit.

Peppermint can help heal your body! 🙌

Peppermint, or Bo He in Traditional Chinese Medicine, expels wind heat which means that it can help you get rid of a cold!

My favorite way to get Bo He in my system is through peppermint tea.

Bo He can help with colds, but may also help reduce or relieve symptoms of stomach viruses by cooling the stomach, reducing inflammation, and reducing nausea and vomiting.

Drink peppermint tea two-three times per day when you first experience watery eyes, sneezing, a stuffy nose, sore or scratchy throat, chills, or fever.

Be sure to buy tea that only contains dried peppermint- organic loose-leaf tea is best.

Make your own tea by using fresh peppermint. Here's how👇

🌿Bring two cups of water to a boil

🌿Add 10-15 fresh peppermint leaves

🌿Remove from heat

🌿Steep for 3-5 minutes, or until desired strength.

Let it cool a bit, but drink it warm and enjoy! 😌
