Progress is not without its risks. Part of self love is setting boundaries for yourself with other people. And sometimes those other people don’t like it.

So then I’m asked “but what do I do about that?”

NOTHING.
KEEP. THOSE. BOUNDARIES.

I know, perhaps it’s an old friend or a close family member. So what? Some of these boundaries are essential for your growth and health and sanity. Are you going to quit and let yourself be hurt further?

I mean, you can, but I wouldn’t.

Sometimes the growth is a lonely journey, but it really is worth it.

Suppose that depends on what you’re daydreaming about. In theory I should have the most amazing pain tolerance due to my amount of daydreaming.

I will say that I’ve seen some of this research and I think more inquiry is required before we even go so far as to say that it may increase wellness in adults. But, that’s not to say to avoid the daydreaming.

I think it can be a helpful and creative process.

I’m not perfect on this either, but do try this active listening skill at every opportunity.

I know I’m 13 hours late to the Twitter party buzz on this, but 2 of the people I would love to have a conversation with are possibly going to be conversing with each other. I can’t wait. 😬🙃

“When I left your office that day, I felt invincible, like I could do anything.”

This was a powerful and meaningful compliment. Sometimes patients say things that stick with you, and make you think about things, and how to be a better person.

The lesson here is pretty simple.

I’d argue that this doesn’t just apply to being a counselor or a coach, but to all people in all areas of life.

For me, it’s the basic idea of putting as much good into the world as possible. Leave the place better than when you found it. If you’re able, give your best self to people as often as you can manage it. You just don’t realize how much of a difference you can make in a person’s life.

Help people to be amazing.

It’s one of the best gifts you can give someone.

Dreaming about what you want is fine, but that old motivational that says “dare to dream” is just silly. You want something? Act on that dream. Take steps towards making it happen. At the end of your life, you’ll regret not trying at all more than you will regret trying and not achieving everything you want. -
