SRTC Health Occupations students had an amazing day job shadowing at Mercy! 🚑✨ They explored the ER, NICU, Labor & Delivery, Radiology and more—such incredible job shadowing experiences.
We ran into two of our former students: Sarah Gunn, now the Neurology/Stroke Center Charge RN, and Lexie Jones, PCT! So proud to see them thriving in their careers. 💙
And to top it off… we even had a surprise visit from the Grinch! 💚😂
Thank you, Mercy, for opening your doors and giving our students unforgettable opportunities and free Christmas lunches!

🎄✨ Our amazing Health Occ students spent the day spreading holiday cheer at LaCoba Homes! They decorated residents’ doors with festive Christmas joy, bringing smiles, laughter, and a warm start to the season. So proud of their kindness and creativity! ❤️🎁✨

✨ Coming out of this Thanksgiving season, Health Occ 2 has so much to be thankful for✨

We are especially grateful for all the amazing volunteers who joined us for our first Family & Friends Stick Day. Thanks to your support, our students are one step closer to reaching their goal of completing 30 venipuncture sticks.

We had over 40 volunteers show up to help—what an incredible turnout! Your time, trust, and willingness to support our students mean so much.

WOW — what an AWESOME day for our students! 🚁🔥
A massive shout-out and THANK YOU to Tara Swearingen, RN, EMT-P, CCRN, CFRN — one of our very own former Health Occupations students — for coming back to inspire the next generation!

Our students had an amazing time learning all about flight nursing, hearing your real-world experiences, and getting an up-close look at the helicopter!

Hernia repairs, hip replacements, and baby deliveries… oh my! 🩺✨ Our students were back at Cox South this week, shadowing all of these incredible moments and so much more. Proud of how they jump in, stay curious, and soak up every learning opportunity!

💉 Health Occ 2 Takes on Clinicals! 🩺
Health Occupations 2 is back and hitting the ground running! 🚀

Today marked our students’ first day of clinicals, where they put their CNA skills from Health Occ 1 into action in the hospital setting. They’re not just refreshing what they’ve learned — they’re leveling up!

From performing lab sticks with butterfly needles and using multiple sample needles to practicing their EKG skills, our students are gaining hands-on experience that will strengthen their confidence and their resumes. 👏

We’re so proud of their dedication and can’t wait to see all they’ll accomplish this year! 🌟

Trying to keep up with all we do in Health Occupations is a challenge! The past two weeks have been full of learning, hands-on experiences, and giving back!

Mrs. Schmidly’s class had the opportunity to job shadow at Mercy Springfield, where students explored a variety of departments including Behavioral Health, NICU, Labor & Delivery, and more!

In class, students learned the valuable skill of bed shampooing — an essential technique for caring for patients who cannot get out of bed. They also learned about effective communication and participated in a fun hands-on activity to test how well they could communicate with each other — a key skill in healthcare!

To finish off the week, students spent time with residents, dressed up for Halloween, and passed out candy to bring a little extra joy and smiles to their faces. 🎃💖

We’re so proud of their dedication, compassion, and enthusiasm as they continue growing in their healthcare journey! ❤️💉

Our Health Occupations students took a trip to Silver Dollar City to celebrate all their hard work and preparation for clinicals! 🩺👏 These students have been putting in so much effort learning skills, practicing professionalism, and getting ready for real-world healthcare experiences.

We’re so proud of them — hands-on clinicals begin Monday! Let’s wish them the best of luck as they take this exciting next step in their healthcare journey! 💙✨
