Dear Family, Friends, and Visitors,

On October 9th, starting at 10:00 AM, our facility will be participating in an emergency preparedness drill. Our staff will be evacuating the residents from the building who have agreed to participate in the exercise (weather permitting).

The local fire department, police department, and David Compton from the Office of Emergency Management will be here to help coordinate the drill. We will be also inviting other local nursing homes to come and observe in hopes of helping with training in their facilities and to get feedback on improving our training.

This is one part of the requirements for all nursing homes to do emergency exercise training annually.

Position: Maintenance Worker

LACOBA Homes, Inc. is a not-for-profit church affiliated skilled nursing facility that is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care and a safe, comfortable environment for our residents. We are seeking a reliable, dedicated, self-starter to join our team.

Responsibilities

1. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building, equipment, and systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.).

2. Conduct regular inspections of the facility on a weekly, monthly, and yearly schedule to ensure safety and compliance.

3. Complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner.

4. Maintain cleanliness and safety of common areas, outdoor grounds and maintenance work areas.

5. Assist with emergency repairs as needed.

6. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding building safety.

7. Collaborate with nursing and administration to address facility needs, repairs, and inspections.

Qualifications

1. Previous maintenance experience in healthcare, skilled nursing, or a related field preferred.

2. Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems preferred.

3. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment safely.

4. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
5. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot various systems.

6. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.

7. Familiarity with customer service principles to ensure client satisfaction.

8. Ability to be on call for emergency situations.
