According to a study published by Harvard Medical School, naloxone takes an average of 2-5 minutes to take effect when administered nasally. In someone who isn’t breathing, those minutes are critical. Providing rescue breathing or CPR can help to save a life, and is the most important first step in treating an opioid overdose. Each year, PDRC staff renew their CPR certifications to ensure they are ready for any situation.
