Last week, Abbie from the Osbourne Nature Center stopped by to guide us through a fun, hands-on craft making homemade bird feeders using pinecones covered in peanut butter and bird seed! We placed them in our courtyard for the birds to enjoy, and everyone was very happy with the final results. ☺️

We are pleased to announce that our February Resident of the Month is Marsha!

Marsha was raised on a pig farm just outside of Garnavillo, Iowa with her parents and two brothers. Following her graduation from Garnavillo High School, Marsha attended the University of Northern Iowa and obtained a degree in teaching. Her teaching career began in Beaver Dam, WI, where she taught high school calculus and math. After some years, she moved to Florida and finished her teaching career.

The Green Bay Packers have a grand fanbase, but Marsha claims herself to be the leader of the “cheeseheads.” These statements are proven to be true with her Green Bay Packers attire or just sitting and watching them play. Besides being known for her love of the Packers, Marsha’s humor and quick-wittedness cannot go unnoticed. She is always looking for a reason to crack a joke and make those around her smile.

During Marsha’s tenure of teaching, lots of students entered her classroom, and teaching these students were her proudest moments. Marsha’s favorite things to do in our community include teaching math and calculus to the other residents and conversing with her friend, Eunice. When asked about a piece of advice to share, Marsha said, “Give yourself the best chance in life!”

Thank you, Marsha, for being a cherished resident here at Garden View Place!

We are excited to announce our January Values Ambassador in the value of Respect is Tim! Tim has been doing maintenance at Garden View Place for a few years now and displays many of our values on a daily basis. Tim has extensive knowledge and experience that he uses to excel in his role. Not only this, but he has a strong work ethic and is willing to do whatever is needed, even helping out in other departments, such as housekeeping and culinary. Tim’s reliability and dedication do not go unnoticed.

One team member stated, “Tim makes everyone feel welcome and cared for. Tim shows us that joy and professionalism can go hand in hand. His positive attitude, humor, and genuine care for others creates an environment where people feel good about coming to work.” Another team member said, “Tim is always going above and beyond to accommodate residents and staff, inside and outside of the community, and always with a contagious smile and kind words.” One of our residents stated, “He will fix most anything that you ask. He is always friendly and will always greet you when he sees you. He is top-notch in my book!”

Thank you, Tim, for all you do for our community! We are forever grateful. ☺️

Today is ! We're taking this day to celebrate the power of learning at every age. Education doesn't stop as we grow in age, discovering new topics and information keeps the mind engaged, curious, and connected.
