Monroe County Reporters : Accumulating snow will expand across SE Michigan during the latter half of the weekend. Potential exists for greater than 4 inches of snow, particularly from metro Detroit southward. Further forecast refinement on accumulation potential expected in the coming days.

For the safety of our volunteers and all traveling, Mercy House will be closed Friday, January 23, 2026.

Please stay safe and warm during this winter storm!!

Mercy House will be closed today due to the inclement weather. Please be safe and warm!!

Sub-zero wind chills are expected Monday through Tuesday as arctic air and gusty winds work through the area. The lowest wind chills will occur Monday night and Tuesday morning, falling as low as around -15F.

Heavenly Father,
As we step into this New Year 2026, we thank You for bringing us safely through the past year. Thank You for Your protection, Your mercy, and Your love that never failed us, even in difficult times.

Lord, we place this new year into Your hands. Please guide our steps, order our thoughts, and guard our hearts. Fill our lives with peace where there is fear, strength where there is weakness, and hope where there is uncertainty. Help us to walk in wisdom and truth each day.

Bless our families, our work, and our health. Remove anxiety, sickness, and confusion from our lives. Renew our minds, strengthen our bodies, and uplift our spirits. Teach us to trust You completely and not be afraid of the future.

May this year be filled with Your grace, favor, and purpose. Help us to love others, forgive quickly, and live with gratitude. Let Your light shine through us in everything we do.

We commit the year 2026 to You, Lord. May Your will be done in our lives, and may we grow closer to You with each passing day.

CAUTIOUS TRAVEL IS ADVISED FOR RAPID REDUCTIONS OF VISIBILITIES AND INTENSE SNOWFALL THROUGH THE LATE MORNING

Snow squalls will impact southeastern Michigan during the late morning to early afternoon.

Snowfall rates in excess of a half inch per hour will be possible at times leading to accumulations of a dusting to localized 2 inches.

Northwest winds around 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph.

Air temperatures will range between 20 and 23 degrees.

Visibilities may briefly drop below a half mile due to intense snow squalls. Rapid fluctuations of visibility will occur.

Rapid snow accumulations on roadways will lead to slippery conditions particularly on bridges, exit ramps and overpasses.

The combination of intense bursts of snow and strong winds; will result in localized white out conditions. Reduced; visibilities along with snow covered and slippery roads will; cause variable traffic rates throughout the county. Motorists; are urged to use caution and account for the variable driving; conditions by allowing extra time.;
