🌤️🐾 Happy Groundhog Day! 🐾🌤️

The 2026 Groundhog Day predictions are in! Will we see an early spring 🌷 or are we in for 6 more weeks of winter ❄️?

Everyone picked a side, shared their best guesses, and had a whole lot of fun doing it!

🎥 Watch the video to see who’s team Spring Fever and who’s team Winter Wonderland…

Then check back later to see who really “hogged” the glory and who’s predictions didn’t quite burrow into the truth! 😉

No matter what Punxsutawney Phil says, we’re predicting smiles all day long at Seacrest. 💙

❄️💙 February Manager Spotlight 💙❄️

This month, we are thrilled to recognize Misty, one of our incredible Nursing Unit Managers, as our February Manager Spotlight!

Misty has been part of the Seacrest family for 5 years, and throughout that time she has been a steady advocate for both residents and families. What she enjoys most about her role is helping residents and their loved ones feel confident that they are receiving the very best care—and that dedication shows in everything she does.

When she’s not leading with compassion on the unit, Misty dreams of a future trip to Hawaii 🌺, reaches for chocolate as her comfort food 🍫, and has a fun side many may not know about—she loves to sing karaoke and shoot pool 🎤🎱.

Misty, thank you for your leadership, heart, and commitment to excellence. We are so grateful for the care, reassurance, and positivity you bring to Seacrest every day. 💙

Yesterday, we held our first Resident Council meeting of 2026—and one thing our residents shared is how important it is to recognize those who go the extra mile.

For January 2026, Resident Council would like to recognize our Maintenance Department, Housekeeping Department, Activities Department, and one of our dayshift nurses, Becky, for their exceptional care and dedication.

Thank you for going above and beyond in caring for our residents, our building, and our shared mission. Your efforts truly make a difference. 💙

Activities Professionals Week – Day 4 🌵January 29th, 2026

We Stick Together

Today our Activity team was gifted “Seacrest Activity Team – We Stick Together” shirts, featuring six cactus characters—each one representing a member of our team. Different personalities, different styles… but deeply rooted together, just like the work we do every day.

Our Team consists of our Activity Director Becky, her 5 Amazing Activity Assistants & a couple of furry friends! Today you’ll see pictured Justin, Amanda, Becky, Bobbie, and Jenn. And we can’t forget Haley! She wasn’t in the photo today, but she’s still rooted in our Activities crew.

Here’s something many people don’t know about Activities:
Activities help provide purpose and meaning to daily life.

This isn’t just where our residents live—it’s their home. We don’t take lightly the responsibility of working in someone else’s home. Everything we do is grounded in respect, connection, and the understanding that the relationships we build help residents feel safe, valued, and truly at home.

When residents feel connected—to people, routines, and familiar faces—they feel grounded. Being part of a community, having a role, and sharing experiences helps residents stay rooted in who they are, even as circumstances change.

Just like our cacti, our team thrives because we grow from strong roots—supporting one another, showing up together, and sticking through it all to bring connection, purpose, and joy to the residents we serve.

🌵 Because in Seacrest Activities… we stick together.

✨Activities Professionals Week – Day 3 ✨January 28th, 2026

A Little Flair Goes a Long Way

Today’s gifts for our Activities crew came with A LOT of inside jokes—because if you know Activities, you know that humor, personality, and shared laughter are part of how we connect.

Here’s something most people don’t know about Activities:
Flair isn’t just fun—it creates opportunities for choice and autonomy.

Pins, colors, inside jokes, and personal touches help residents recognize us, approach us, and start conversations. For many residents—especially those living with memory loss—being able to choose a pin, comment on a favorite color, or connect over a shared interest supports independence and self-expression in meaningful ways.

In Activities, personality isn’t something we leave at the door. We lean into it. Our team uses individuality, creativity, and yes… a little flair, to build trust, encourage engagement, and help residents feel seen and heard.

Because when residents are given opportunities to choose and connect, even the smallest details can make a big difference.

Activities Professionals Week – Day 2 ☕🥯 January 27, 2026

Fueling the Fun

Today we fueled our Activity team with coffee and bagels—because it takes energy, creativity, and heart to bring joy to residents not just today, but every day.

Here’s something most people don’t know about Activities:
The connections our team builds aren’t accidental. They’re intentional.

Our Activity Director, Becky, always says “you have to be a little weird to work in activities”—and she should know! 😄 That “weird” is actually something powerful. Becky and her team use their therapeutic use of self—their strengths, weaknesses, interests, personalities, and knowledge—to connect with residents, build trust, form meaningful bonds, and plan engaging, purposeful activities.

It’s not about putting on a show.
It’s about showing up as real humans, meeting residents where they are, and using those connections to create moments that matter.

Putting a Name Behind the Everyday Magic 🪄

We may be a day late in posting—but we are grateful every single day for the incredible professionals who bring joy, purpose, and connection to our residents.

Most people think Activities is just coloring and games.
The truth? Every moment of joy is intentionally planned—with each resident’s abilities, interests, and dignity in mind.

That’s why yesterday we celebrated our Activity team with personalized badge buddies, each one designed to reflect their own unique interests. Because just like our residents, no two Activity professionals are the same.

You may also notice a yellow block peeking out from the bottom of our name tags—that’s how you can spot Activities. Our Activity Director, Becky, loves sunshine and the color yellow, and we like to tell new residents and families to look for the sunshine… because bringing a little light into every day is kind of our thing ☀️

What many people don’t know is that Becky’s first career was working in a traditional therapy role using her Occupational Therapy Assistant degree. Over time, she discovered an even deeper passion: using that education and clinical knowledge to create individualized, meaningful activities that add life, purpose, and joy to residents’ days.

She continued that passion for learning by earning certification in Montessori for Dementia, helping us build a thriving Senior Discovery program designed to best support our residents—where abilities are honored, independence is encouraged, and each person is seen for who they are.

There’s a name, a plan, and a whole lot of heart behind the everyday magic.

💛 Happy Activities Professionals Week!
