During my son’s Senior spring break I had a friend of Joseph’s, Gabe ask me if I would teach Yoga one morning. How honored was I that an 18-year-old young man would be interested in yoga?! We had so many people show up for sunrise yoga.
My heart was full.
The message I shared is below:
Take a moment to arrive…
Not just physically on your mat, but really arrive in this moment of your life.
For the seniors here—this is such a unique time.
You’re standing right in between what has been… and everything that’s about to unfold.
There’s excitement, freedom, possibility…
and maybe also pressure, uncertainty, or even a little fear.
And for the parents—
you’re in a transition too.
Watching something you’ve nurtured, guided, and protected begin to step out into the world on its own.
There’s pride… and also a quiet letting go.
This space you’re all in right now… it’s sacred.
It’s what we call the in-between.
Yoga teaches us not to rush through these moments.
Not to skip ahead to what’s next.
But to be with what is.
Because often, we’re so focused on the future…
we forget to fully feel the present.
So today, instead of trying to figure everything out—
I invite you to simply experience.
Seniors—
You don’t need to have your whole life mapped out right now.
You’re allowed to explore, to change, to grow into who you are.
Parents—
Your role doesn’t disappear… it evolves.
From holding on… to standing beside.
And for all of us—
this practice is a reminder that life is a series of transitions.
Just like moving from one pose to the next.
Sometimes steady.
Sometimes wobbly.
Sometimes uncomfortable.
But always moving.
So as we move through class today,
notice where you want to rush…
notice where things feel uncertain…
and instead of resisting, breathe into it.
Because this moment—right here—
isn’t something to get through.
It’s something to feel.
To honor.
To remember.
