Not all “board certifications” are the same — and that matters.
At Mickel Plastic Surgery, our surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to certify plastic surgeons of the face and body.
Some providers may call themselves “cosmetic surgeons” or claim to be “double” or “triple” board certified — but there is no ABMS-approved cosmetic surgery board. That’s an important distinction when it comes to training, education, and patient safety.
ABPS certification requires rigorous surgical training, strict standards, and ongoing education — all designed to protect you as a patient.
Choosing a plastic surgeon shouldn’t be confusing, but credentials can be. Do your research, ask questions, and make sure your surgeon’s certification truly reflects the highest level of training.
