Satya — Living in Truth
In yoga philosophy, Satya means truthfulness.
But it’s not about harsh honesty or perfection. It’s about living in a way that feels sincere and aligned with who you truly are.

Satya invites us to pause and ask ourselves:
What feels true in this moment?
Maybe the truth is that you’re tired.
Maybe it’s that you need movement, breath, or stillness.
Maybe it’s that you simply need a quiet space to reconnect with yourself.

On the mat, Satya reminds us to practice honestly —
not pushing beyond what the body is ready for,
not comparing ourselves to anyone else,
and allowing our practice to meet us exactly where we are.

Truth in yoga is gentle.
Truth is compassionate.
Truth is listening inward.

Wherever you are today, let your practice be real, steady, and kind.

Maitri — Loving Kindness
Maitri means loving kindness toward all beings.

Life can be chaotic, unfair, or heartbreaking, but yoga suggests that our inner posture can still be kindness.

Even in difficult seasons we can ask:
Can I stay kind?
Can I soften instead of harden?

Maitri teaches that love isn’t dependent on circumstances—it’s a practice we cultivate, like strengthening a muscle.

Don't allow the world to drag you down.
Instead, be the change that you want to see in the world. ❤

In yoga philosophy, love isn’t seen as something that only exists when life feels good. It’s considered a state of being that we practice even when life is messy, painful, or unfair. Several yogic ideas speak directly to loving through difficult moments.

1. Ahimsa — Love as Non-Harm
One of the core principles of yoga from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is ahimsa, which means non-violence or compassion.
When life is ugly, yoga doesn’t ask us to pretend it’s beautiful. Instead it invites us to respond with less harm and more compassion—toward ourselves and others.

Love, in this sense, is choosing:
patience instead of harshness
understanding instead of judgment
gentleness when we feel broken
Sometimes the most radical form of love is simply not adding more pain to what already hurts.

Don't forget, we can make a difference, even if it's one small act of love at a time. ❤

Beginner-Friendly Yoga in Monroe — No Experience Needed.

I’m excited to share that I’ll be teaching another session of yoga classes through Monroe County Community College beginning the week of March 16th — and I would love to see you there.

If you’ve been thinking about starting (or restarting) your yoga practice, this is such a welcoming place to begin. Seniors receive a substantial discount (almost 50% off) for these classes.

Tuesday Evenings – Beginner Yoga (almost half full).
5:30–6:30 p.m.

Perfect for those who are brand new or want to revisit the foundations in a supportive, no-pressure environment.

A midweek breath and movement break to refresh your mind and body before heading back to work.

And honestly… so do we.

Some days, we arrive on our mat feeling strong, fiery, and determined.
On other days, we come in tender, tired, needing softness.
Yoga makes space for all of it.

The lion reminds us of our power —
our breath, our courage, our ability to rise.

The lamb reminds us of our gentleness —
our compassion, our patience, our willingness to slow down.

This month, let your practice hold it all.

Strong and soft.
Effort and ease.
Movement and stillness.
You don’t have to choose one version of yourself.
You are allowed to be both.

Some days feel longer than others.
But this moment? It’s temporary. ❤
Life moves in waves. There are stretches where everything feels aligned… and then there are the hiccups. The important thing isn’t perfection. It’s persistence.
Just keep doing your best.
Not someone else’s best.
Not yesterday’s best.
Your best — today.
Maybe your best looks like showing up to your mat.
Maybe it’s taking one deep breath before reacting.
Maybe it’s simply choosing kindness toward yourself.
Small, steady effort adds up. Growth rarely happens all at once — it happens when we keep returning.
If you’re in a hard moment right now, stay with it. Breathe through it. Move gently. Live fully.

It’s okay to get off track.
Life isn’t a straight line. It’s a series of little hiccups… missed routines, distracted days, moments where we feel upside down or out of sync. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It means you’re human.
What matters most isn’t perfection — it’s return.

Return to your breath.
Return to what feels true.
Return to what is important to you.
Every time you come back, you build strength.
Every time you begin again, you grow wiser.
Every time you step back onto your mat, you practice resilience.
Yoga teaches us that progress isn’t about never wobbling — it’s about steadying yourself again and again with compassion.

So if you’ve drifted… come back.
If you’ve paused… begin again.
If you’ve forgotten… remember who you are.
Get back on your mat.
Your practice is still there.
And so are you. 🤍
