Retirement Announcement

Dear Patients and Families,

It is with both gratitude and heartfelt appreciation that we announce the retirement of Dr. John Tsalapatanis, effective August 28, 2026, after 35 years of dedicated service as a pediatrician. Throughout his remarkable career, Dr. John has been deeply committed to the health and well-being of children and their families. For more than three decades, he has been a trusted physician, a compassionate listener, and a steady presence for generations of patients. His dedication to pediatric care, clinical excellence, and genuine concern for every child he treated have left a lasting impact on our practice and our community.

Dr. John’s work has gone far beyond medicine. He has built meaningful relationships with families, mentored students and colleagues, and helped shaped the high standard of care we are proud to uphold today. His professionalism, kindness, and unwavering commitment will be greatly missed. As he prepares for this well-earned retirement, we extend our sincere thanks to Dr. John for his service and devotion. We wish him continued health, happiness, and fulfillment in this next chapter of his life.

Summer time means it is form season! Whether you are in need of a camp, sports, school, or college form please remember these important tips:

All forms must be submitted in a timely manner and all your information needs to be completed prior to us completing our part.

Colleges do not accept the State of CT school form, please provide us with the specific form your school requires.

Forms can take 3-5 business days to complete, if you need it urgently there will be a $25 rush fee.

Happy Nurses Week to all the amazing nurses out there!

A special shout out to the five phenomenal nurses we have at Canterbury. We are so lucky to work with all of you and it is the perfect time to give them each the recognition they deserve:

Kathie is our RN and has been with us since the day we opened, she gives the majority of vaccines and because of this gets to meet every patient we have. She has had the opportunity to see thousands of kiddos grow up and is now getting to see the first generation of Canterbury patients become parents themselves.

Gretchen is our longest serving Nurse Practitioner and has been with us since 2017. She is an Army veteran and decided to go into pediatrics after having her own children. She is also an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and loves helping moms in their breastfeeding journey.

Jane is our second Nurse Practitioner who has been with us since 2022. Prior to starting her primary care career she worked in the NICU at St. Vincent’s for many years. She brings a gentle approach that kids are drawn to.

Chelsea is our third Nurse Practitioner and joined the Canterbury family in 2023 after her previous practice closed. She is brings an energy and enthusiasm that is contagious.

Yolanda (Yoly for short) is our LPN who has been with us for almost a year now. You can find her bringing patients in, giving vaccines, and helping in anyway that is asked of her. She is a mother of four and has the patience to prove it.

And lastly, Jessica is a medical assistant who has been here since 2020, and will be starting nursing school in the fall, we are all so proud of you!
