WE ARE HIRING! The Town of Chester Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill two positions. POLICE OFFICER-SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER (part-time): Preferred candidates will have current Police Officer certification in NYS and prior experience. If you have been separated from service, retired or otherwise, for more than four years, your police officer certification has likely lapsed. Peace officer certification is not the same as police officer certification. The School Resource Officer will be assigned to the schools in the Chester Union Free School District. Two to three shifts per week is expected during the school year and our shift hours are 7a-3p or 8a-4p. Current pay is $30.59/hour as well as a semi-annual uniform allowance. The officer may also be assigned to patrol shifts when school is not in session if the officer is interested.
POLICE OFFICER-PATROL (part-time): Preferred candidates will have current Police Officer certification in NYS and prior experience. If you have been separated from service, retired or otherwise, for more than four years, your police officer certification has likely lapsed. Peace officer certification is not the same as police officer certification. Part-time police officers are used to fill vacancies on patrol and to supplement patrol shifts and/or special assignments. An average of two to three shifts per week is expected and our shift hours are 7a-3p, 3p-11p and 11p-7a, with some flexibility. Current pay is $30.59/hour and officers receive holiday pay and/or 5% night differential for working qualified shifts, as well as a semi-annual uniform allowance.
