Yesterday, our Lodgers experienced an unforgettable moment of warmth, joy, and genuine connection. For his 8th birthday, Jarrus Hopkins chose to celebrate not at a typical birthday venue, but right here at MediLodge of Monroe with those he considers family.

Jarrus has been visiting MediLodge since he was just 8 months old, often joining his mother, our Director of Nursing. Over the years, his bond with our Lodgers grew naturally through shared smiles, friendly conversations, laughter, and heartfelt stories about his favourite sport—soccer. During his birthday celebration, the Lodgers joined him in all of these joyful moments!

When asked what made his day special, Jarrus said, “They love to see me, and it makes me happy to see them smile. I’m their family, so why wouldn’t I want to spend my birthday with them?” The Lodgers lit up the moment he entered the building. Cupcakes and cake were shared, conversations flowed, and even a playful soccer game was played! Many Lodgers said it was the highlight of their week and an experience they would cherish for a lifetime. Some even asked for the pictures to be printed so they could show them off and reminisce about this special day.

Jarrus’s humbleness, kindness, and sincere spirit remind us of the power of compassion and the incredible impact that one child can have on an entire community.

We hope you had a wonderful 8th birthday, Jarrus! 🥳

Michael has a unique talent for turning everyday moments into something fun, and our residents truly look forward to the joy he brings.
