Club Scrub is officially under way!

Recently, students had the opportunity to visit the cardiac catheterization lab, where they explored a real cow’s heart to learn more about anatomy. They also learned about the components of blood, how pacemakers work, and how stents can help save lives during a heart attack.

Great work, everyone!

SSM Health Monroe Hospital leaders are committed to staying connected to our frontline teams. Our “Through My Eyes” program encourages leaders to work alongside caregivers to better understand their roles and experiences.

Recently, Caitlin Isenberger, Human Resources, had the opportunity to work alongside the Monroe Surgery and Procedure Center team.

“What stood out immediately was the incredible level of preparation, coordination, and collaboration required to ensure patients are fully supported throughout their surgical experience,” she said.

From proactively reaching out to patients before surgery to offering reassurance and guidance, Caitlin observed that this team’s work goes far beyond technical excellence.

Thank you to the SSM Health Monroe Hospital Surgery and Procedure Center team for welcoming Caitlin, sharing your work, and demonstrating what patient-centered care looks like in action!

Did you know kids need different amounts of sleep as they grow? From newborns needing up to 17 hours to teens needing up to 10, making sure they get enough rest is key to healthy development. Good sleep supports brain growth, memory, emotional regulation, and even a stronger immune system.
If your child is growing out of naps, try shifting bedtime earlier, adding a calm “quiet time,” and keeping afternoons low key to avoid overtired battles. And when setting bedtime, start with your morning wake-up time and work backward based on their age. Small changes can make a big difference in how refreshed they feel each day! 🌙💤
Unsure how much sleep your child needs? Here are doctor-recommended sleep times, based on age:
😴 1 to 3 months: 14 – 17 hours per day
😴 4 to 11 months: 12 – 15 hours per day
😴 1 to 2 years: 11 to 14 hours per day
😴 3 to 5 years: 10 – 13 hours per day
😴 6 to 13 years: 9 -11 hours per day
😴 14 to 17 years: 8 – 10 hours per day

Get to Know Your Caregiver

Ashley Bohlman, APNP-CNP, is a Family Medicine provider at SSM Health Monroe Clinic Medical Group in Monroe. She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing through Edgewood College. She joins our SSM Health team with more than a decade of nursing experience https://www.getcare.ssmhealth.com/find-a-doctor/doctor-details/ashley-r-bohlman-apnp-cnp .

“I’m very excited to be joining the Monroe team and caring for patients in a small community so close to home,” she said.

Get to know Ashley Bohlman:

Q: How did you choose your specialty?
A: My background in acute and critical care nursing showed me how important it is to keep people healthy and out of the hospital. I wanted to be part of the preventative side of medicine. I value building long-term relationships, getting to know patients as people, and being someone who my patients feel comfortable coming to with questions or concerns.

Q: What are the most common conditions you see patients for?
A: I help with a wide range of primary care needs, including routine preventive visits, diabetes management, addressing hypertension, anxiety and depression, women’s health concerns, chronic disease management, and acute illnesses or injuries. Every day looks different in Family Medicine, and that’s one of the things I most love about it.

Q: How would you describe your style/approach to patient care?
A: My approach is warm, conversational, and rooted in shared decision-making. I see the patient-provider relationship as a team effort: we work together toward the common goal of better health.

Q: What do you wish patients knew about your practice or specialty?
A: I want patients to know that I am on their side. I can provide guidance, support, and medical expertise, but true health improvements become reality when we work together.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your role?
A: The relationships. Being part of someone’s health journey over many years and through different stages of life is incredibly rewarding. I love building trust, celebrating successes, and being a consistent source of support for individuals and families.

Q: Where did you grow up?
A: I spent my early childhood in Cuba City and moved to Mt. Horeb in grade school. My roots in small communities definitely shaped my love for family-centered, relationship-based care.

Q: What do you like to do when you’re not at work?
A: I love gardening, baking sourdough bread, exploring local gems like Paoli (a favorite of mine), reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Q: What is something unique about you?
A: I like to think of myself as a very down-to-earth Wisconsinite. I’m a gardener, a reader, a mom, and someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with people. The simple things bring me joy, and that’s part of what makes my approach to care warm and relatable.

Q: Anything else you’d like to share?
A: It means a lot to me to provide care in and near my own community. I’m looking forward to building relationships, supporting families, and helping our area stay healthy for many years to come!

Evansville High School senior Fallon Ringhand recently donated 10 chemotherapy comfort baskets to patients at SSM Health in Monroe — honoring her father, Scott, who passed away from colon cancer in 2022.

Fallon raised funds through bake sales and filled each basket with blankets, lotions, puzzle books, affirmation cards, and more. Her friend, Logann Case, helped all along the way.
Our patients were incredibly grateful.

Thank you to Fallon, Logann, and the entire Ringhand family for bringing comfort, kindness, and hope to our community.
