Did you know? April is Counseling Awareness Month and we’re starting it off with a fun fact about Healing Journey Counseling Center’s very own Clinical Director, Myisha Jackson.
For Counseling Awareness Month, I wanted to share a little secret: I never planned on being a therapist 😬
Years ago, I was a criminal justice major with my sight set on being a prosecutor but while working in the DA’s office, I realized something that changed my life. Justice can hold someone accountable, but it doesn’t always heal the scars left behind.
I found myself wanting to spend more time listening to the victims, supporting their emotional recovery, and helping them rebuild more than I wanted to argue a case. Now I know why the LSAT didn’t go as planned. My heart was already in the therapy room.
Today, as the owner and Clinical Director of Healing Journey Counseling Center, I may not seek justice but I get to witness transformation. I get to meet women and men at their lowest moments and walk beside them as they find their strength again.
It’s been a journey, and I’m so honored to have been a part of so many people’s healing journey. ❤️🩹
