Research Spotlight: Luna Takagi
Today we’re highlighting Luna and her thesis exploring premenstrual syndrome (PMS) among female college students, how symptoms affect daily life, and whether PMS may be connected to diet quality.
Her findings show that nearly one-third of students reported experiencing PMS, with common symptoms like bloating, fatigue, and low mood. Many students also described loss of motivation, emotional changes, and decreased productivity leading up to their period - an important reminder of how deeply menstrual health can impact well-being.
This project was inspired by Luna’s own experience navigating PMS and her curiosity about the role nutrition may play. Her goal is to help women feel more informed, supported, and confident in their bodies.
We’re so proud of the work she’s done and excited to see where her passion for women’s health research leads next!
