When freezing temperatures hit, a Code Blue is declared to protect our most vulnerable neighbors. These alerts activate warming centers and emergency resources across New Jersey to prevent cold-related illness and injury.

No one should have to face dangerous weather alone. If you or someone you know needs a safe, warm place to go, don’t wait.

For real-time updates on Code Blue declarations and available warming centers, visit nj211.org/njcodeblue or call 2-1-1 for immediate assistance.

Garden State Equality's team spent time with MHA's NJ4S Morris-Sussex team leading their Transgender & Gender Diverse Identities training. This module presented terminology surrounding transgender identities and noted challenges faced by transgender and gender non-conforming individuals in school settings.

Our MHA team recently participated in Motivational Interviewing (MI) training taught by MHA trained staff in strengthening skills that help us better support the individuals and families we serve. Motivational Interviewing is a person-centered, trauma-informed approach that focuses on listening, collaboration, and empowerment. Rather than telling people what to do, MI helps individuals identify their own goals, strengths, and motivation for change.

Why this matters:
✔️ Builds trust and stronger relationships
✔️ Reduces resistance and promotes engagement
✔️ Honors choice, autonomy, and lived experience
✔️ Supports long-term, meaningful change

By investing in ongoing training, MHA can ensure our staff are equipped with the tools needed to meet clients where they are and walk alongside them on their recovery journey.

We are so grateful to the congregants of Temple Sharey Tefilo-Israel in South Orange, NJ for creating thoughtful kindness bags for seniors in our various programs. These small gestures go a long way in reminding our older adults that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

A special thank you to MHA Board Member Alan Levine for organizing this meaningful effort and helping bring our community together in support of our seniors. Partnerships like these truly make a difference.

Thank you for spreading compassion and kindness where it’s needed most.

At MHA, we recognize the critical importance of both physical and mental health in promoting overall well-being. Our Health Home program is designed to meet the diverse needs of the population we serve by seamlessly integrating physical and mental health care. This comprehensive approach is made possible through the dedication of our skilled nursing staff.

Our Registered Nurses (RNs) play a key role in empowering consumers to take control of their health, offering education, coordination, and advocacy to support their well-being. Additionally, our Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) work closely with consumers to effectively manage both mental and physical health through thorough assessments and tailored medication management.

We’re grateful for our dedicated nursing team, whose expertise and compassion make integrated, whole-person care a reality for the individuals we serve.

MHA was honored to welcome Assemblywoman Marisa Sweeney to our Parsippany office today.

During her visit Assemblywoman Sweeney spent time learning about our programs and meeting with our directors and staff, as well as our Board President Barbara Small and Board Vice President Bill Olderman, to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of our work across the community. As a token of appreciation for her support and engagement, MHA CEO Bob Davison presented her with an MHA challenge coin.

Thank you, Assemblywoman Sweeney, for taking the time to visit, listen, and engage in meaningful conversation about the services that support the individuals and families we serve.

We look forward to continued collaboration and advocacy that strengthens our programs and the communities we support.

MHA's Criminal Justice Reform program is proud to partner with the Essex Municipal Court Division to launch the first-ever Mental Health Municipal Court Diversion Program. Presided over by the Hon. Judge Rachel Marshall in Newark, this groundbreaking initiative recently celebrated its first two graduates, marking a powerful step forward in improving their lives.

This milestone reflects what’s possible when systems collaborate to center treatment, dignity, and second chances.

Annual Point-In-Time (PIT) Count of the Homeless, provides a statewide snapshot of households experiencing homelessness in our communities; where they find shelter, what their needs are, and what factors contribute to making them homeless. The 2026 Count will reveal important spatial, demographic and other information about families and individuals experiencing homelessness on the night of Wednesday, January 28, 2026. These findings help stakeholders understand how to better allocate housing resources and services in order to prevent and end homelessness.

Thank you to our Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) Essex team for going out at 5AM yesterday morning to complete surveys with our most vulnerable neighbors.

Morris County’s Project Homeless Connect returned to St. Peter's, Morristown Episcopal Church on January 28, bringing together service providers, community leaders, and neighbors with a shared goal of connection, dignity, and support. Organized by MHA’s Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) Morris County team in partnership with the Morris County Government , the Morris County Sheriff's Office, and St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, the annual event welcomed more than 100 attendees this year.

Individuals were able to access a wide range of free, on-site resources from dozens of community-based providers, including health services, personal care items, food, clothing, and other essential supports designed to meet immediate needs and foster long-term stability.

The event opened with remarks highlighting the importance of collaboration and compassion in addressing homelessness. Speakers included Senator Anthony M. Bucco, Father Rob Picken of St Peters Episcopal Church, Morris County Commissioner Christine M. Myers, and MHA’s CEO Robert Davison, each underscoring the critical role Project Homeless Connect plays in strengthening pathways to housing, care, and recovery. Attendees also heard a powerful consumer testimonial, offering a firsthand perspective on resilience, hope, and the impact of supportive services.

We are deeply grateful to the volunteers, service providers, and county partners who made this day possible and continue to show up for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. Together, we are building a more responsive and compassionate community.
