Cares mentoring is the brainchild of my mentor and dear friend, Susan Taylor!

Last night, we raised an additional $350,000 for indigent Black and brown children.

I am so proud to be a part of this organization. Tamron Hall was our beautiful MC, and celebrities peppered the crowd. We all had a blast.

Wanted to take a moment to share my husband’s Heningburg family’s black history regarding his Uncle Gus.

Gustav Heningburg hosted the show Positively Black on WABC TV from 1972-1990.

Gus helped to integrate the stores and business at Newark Liberty International Airport… long before that became the official name of the airport.

He helped to quell riots in Rahway Hospital. He helped with protests and strikes on the streets of Newark, and generally speaking, he was a civic hero.

So that is my Black History Month moment for my husband’s family, whom I appreciate, adore, and greatly admire.

Does aluminum in antiperspirant deodorant cause cancer?

Here’s what the science actually says.

Deodorant helps control odor and bacteria. Antiperspirant contains aluminum salts that temporarily block sweat glands.

According to the FDA and the American Cancer Society, aluminum in antiperspirants has not been proven to cause breast cancer, Alzheimer’s, or dementia.

The concern started decades ago from animal studies using extremely high doses, not from normal, everyday use on human skin.

What can happen?

• Skin irritation
• Contact dermatitis
• Yellow staining on clothing

But there is no strong scientific evidence linking aluminum antiperspirants to cancer.

When it comes to your health, always look at the data.

Do gel manicures cause cancer? After several nail polishes were banned in the EU for having certain chemicals, many people wondered about the connection to gel manicures and cancer.

In Europe, the concern involves an ingredient called TPO (trimethylbenzoyl diphenyl phosphine oxide). In extremely high amounts, it may pose a risk, but not in the small amounts typically used in gel polish.

What you should be more concerned about is the UV light exposure to your hands.

Every time you cure gel polish under a UV lamp, your skin is exposed to ultraviolet radiation. Over time, that can contribute to:

• Photodamage
• Premature aging of the hands
• Precancerous lesions
• Increased skin cancer risk

If you love gel manicures, protect yourself:

✔️ Apply SPF 30 or higher to your hands before your appointment
✔️ Use UPF 50 nail gloves
✔️ Consider asking for TPO-free gel polish

You don’t have to give up your manicure, just protect your skin.

Nosebleeds! I get nosebleeds when I’m skiing, when I’m back in New Jersey working, and at home… All winter long intermittently.

They are aggravating, so I am going through some of the things I do to help decrease my symptoms.

As everyone knows, I am a big runner, and I love to run regardless of the weather.

Exercise clears my mind and reinvigorates me! There are so many benefits to it!

I can’t recommend it enough for decreasing stress-related dermatology conditions, boosting your VO2 max, helping you live longer, improving your sleep, your muscle tone, and your overall well-being… Exercise is where it is at.

I am in Sag Harbor, showing the frozen Bay by where my house is, and talking more about exercise, longevity, my VO2 max, and just enjoying yourself and doing something good for you.

Too many of us do not focus enough on ourselves and focus on everyone else. Exercise is self-focused and critical for our health and well-being. As Nike says… Just do it.
