HI! I wanted to share some information about an online 2 part workshop that my colleague and I are offering in October.

The workshop would be of most benefit to caregivers and professionals working with school-aged children experiencing anxiety. It will help caregivers learn about childhood anxiety and ways to support children with anxiety. Interventions are informed by the SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) program, an evidence-based parent focused treatment program for childhood anxiety that was developed by Dr. Eli Lebowitz at the Yale Child Study Center. An interactive approach will be taken within the group setting to facilitate collaboration among participants.

Please see the attached flyer for more information and feel free to
share the information to individuals that you feel may benefit.

A good reminder, borrowed from the SMART Recovery Toolbox. We call this the Hula Hoop Tool - focus on the circle of what you CAN control, instead of the things you CANNOT control.

People talk a lot about how adverse childhood experiences can have a lifelong impact...but the good news is that kids are resilient and positive experiences can have lifelong impacts as well.

This study found that more positive childhood experiences were associated with lower their rates of mental health problems and high rates of positive relationships as an adult.

And we're not talking about winning the lottery or a surprise trip to Disney. Simple things appear to have a huge impact: feeling understood by your family, having adults who take a genuine interest in you, feeling safe and protected by an adult in your home, feeling supported by friends and having a sense of belonging in your school.

Researchers asked adults to reflect back on their happy childhood memories. They found those who recalled more were less likely to have depression in adulthood and had more supportive relationships.

what do your kids think about the pictures you're posting or the information you're sharing about them online? what might they think in 5 years??

For many of us, posting on social media is a daily habit. For parents, that often means updates about what their young children are up to.

It doesn’t make you look authoritative. It makes you look out of control to your kids. It makes you look weak.
