In early November 2025, Nepal welcomed a medical team from Taiwan Root Medical Peace Corps. The 36 members arrived at Kathmandu Airport close to midnight and set off early the next morning to provide free medical services in the mountains. The rugged mountain roads highlighted the difficulties local residents face in accessing healthcare. This medical mission included general medicine, dentistry, ophthalmology, traditional Chinese medicine, and laboratory services. Moringa For Love and local doctor Dr. Dil began planning the event eight months prior, holding it over six days in five different cities, serving more than 3,200 people. In addition to the 36 members from Taiwan, six local doctors and over 20 local volunteers participated.
After the medical outreaches, we traveled for six hours to Dr. Dil's hospital in the mountains. At an altitude of 2,000 meters, the hospital offered close-up views of the Himalayas, with fresh air and beautiful scenery, resembling a paradise. Although small, the hospital was well-equipped, with digital X-ray and ultrasound machines, a laboratory, a physiotherapy room, a pharmacy, and an ambulance on standby 24 hours a day. Due to its remote location in a mountainous area with poor transportation and insufficient medical resources, many patients have to walk 5-6 hours or travel 1-2 hours by motorcycle to reach the hospital. Seriously ill patients require 4-6 hours to be transferred to major hospitals in Kathmandu.
Dr. Dil forwent the opportunity to open a clinic in a large city, choosing instead to come to this remote mountainous region to provide affordable yet high-quality medical services. This has not only solved the medical problems for many but also saved numerous lives. Dr. Dil is very grateful for the help from around the world, which has enabled his hospital to operate sustainably. He plans to establish similar hospitals in other parts of the Himalayas in the future.
