Botox works by relaxing the muscles that cause repetitive facial movements, like raising your eyebrows or frowning. This patient’s main concern was the downward turn at the corners of her mouth and the creasing it created.

With age and volume loss, the corners of the mouth can start to pull down, creating a tired or even sad appearance. By placing a small amount of filler, we were able to restore foundational support and subtly lift the corners for a softer, more refreshed look.

The goal is never to overfill, but to enhance in a way that still looks completely natural.

Treating the platysmal bands and jawline with Botox is one of my favorite ways to create a more lifted, defined lower face, without adding volume.

Platysmal bands are those vertical lines that pop out in your neck when you talk, smile, or strain. They’re caused by the platysma muscle pulling downward on the lower face.

Botox relaxes the platysma muscle, which helps:
• Soften visible neck bands and helps the muscle lay flat against he jaw, giving the illusion the jawline is more defined
• Reduce downward pull on the jawline
• Create a subtle “lifting” effect (aka the Nefertiti lift )
