Staff Sergeant Christian Isaiah Cypress, U.S. Army, born on June 16, 1999, passed away on February 19, 2026, at the age of 26 in Chester, Virginia.
SSG Cypress dedicated his career to the Army, serving as a Communications NCO with Fox Company, 97th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne), where he managed critical communication efforts in support of civil-military operations. Before his passing, he had been accepted into the Civil Affairs Qualification Course to further advance in special operations civil affairs.
As a young leader, SSG Cypress achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant, reflecting his knowledge, professionalism, and commitment. Peers who knew him described him as one of the most knowledgeable and professional service members, with tributes noting he "would've really gone far in his career."
We remember SSG Cypress for his dedicated service and positive impact. He will forever be known and loved. Rest in peace, SSG Cypress. We thank you for your sacrifice.
SSG Cypress was laid to rest on March 7, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Park in Chester, Virginia, following a Celebration of Life service.
