On this Veteran’s Day, we thank all those who served and afforded us freedom! We take today as an opportunity to say thank you to all the Veterans out there and their families! The newly renovated Faulkner Mental Health Center is our way of giving back to those Veterans and family members by providing FREE mental health counseling services thanks to a grant from the ADVA! Allow us to introduce our newest team member , James Crocker, who understands the service and sacrifices and will be instrumental in serving this population in our new space!
“After twenty-nine years of service as an Army Officer (Ret. Colonel), James began a second career supporting Veterans and others suffering with mental health challenges. He has worked with clients, from six to eighty-three-years-old, that were in mental health crises in both inpatient and outpatient settings. James believes the purpose of counseling is to provide clients, from all cultural backgrounds or beliefs, a safe place to produce change in their lives. He approaches counseling from an eclectic perspective, utilizing techniques and skills from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Focused Attention, and State Management. James is a National Certified Counselor from the National Board of Certified Counselors, and a member of the American Counselors Association and the Alabama Counselors Association. He is also a member of the Gamma Beta Phi and Chi Sigma Iota Honor Societies.
James is married to Sonya Beach, a rehabilitation counselor, and they have two adult children. He and his wife are continuing to take graduate courses along with their full-time jobs. Most of their “free” time is spent on self-care and relaxation.”
Welcome to the team and thank you for your service , James!
