✨At 95 (almost 96) years young, Clemont Carpenter is still showing up for his patients, five days a week. A long-time Alabama Pharmacy Association member and active pharmacist at Foster Drug Company, Incorporated, Clemont continues to serve his community in Crenshaw County with the same dedication that has defined his career.

He is a past Board of Pharmacy member, proud Bowl of Hygeia recipient, and former Mayor of Luverne. Clemont jokes that he “cut back” to just 40 to 50 hours a week when he turned 80. 💊👏
This is what a lifetime of service and love for the profession looks like.

The Pharmacy Stars “Shining Star Compounding Technician of the Year” award is made possible through Pharmacy Stars and recognizes exemplary Compounding Pharmacy Technicians who contribute greatly to the advancement of compounding pharmacy.

This year’s recipient is Wendy Butler, a Certified Pharmacy Technician from Pharmacy Care Associates in Athens, AL. She has been a licensed technician for 18 years, and an APA member for 7 years. She was instrumental in helping design and implement their sterile compounding space, ensuring that it met regulatory standards while remaining efficient and safe for pharmacy staff and patients. What began as a new project under her guidance has grown into a well-run, fully compliant sterile compounding operation that the entire pharmacy depends on every day.

Beyond helping build the IV room, she has taken ownership of maintaining it. She consistently upholds the highest standards of cleanliness, documentation, workflow, and compliance. She ensures policies and procedures are followed correctly, trains new staff, and serves as the go-to expert for sterile compounding questions and problem-solving.

What truly sets her apart is her pride in her work and her willingness to go above and beyond. Her reliability, professionalism, and calm leadership make her an invaluable member of the PCA team. Because of her dedication, the pharmacy can provide safe, accurate, and timely sterile compounded medications to the patients who depend on them.

Congratulations, Wendy!
