Dear Patients and Friends,
We hope this finds you all healthy and safe during this difficult time. As you may know Berry Optical has been closed for the last 5 weeks by order of the Governor and the state Optometric Association. The governor’s restrictions on routine medical care have now been lifted and we are planning to reopen on May 11.
The safety of our patients and staff against infection has always been a priority for us. We have taken this time to review all of our sterilization and disinfection protocols according to the recommendations of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control ), OSHA ( Occupational Safety and Health Association ) and the state board of Optometry. When we open for routine eye examinations and retail eyewear sales and repair we want to make you aware of some of the changes we are implementing to insure the health of both patients and staff.
1.) The office has been “deep cleaned”. All of our stock of eyewear has been disinfected. Chairs have been spaced out in the reception area to allow for social distancing. Magazines (which are difficult to disinfect) have been removed from the reception area. A plexiglass boundary has been installed at the front desk.
2.) Fewer appointments will be available as we “spread out” the schedule to minimize the number of people in the office. We ask that you come with no more than one family member or friend. All customers entering Berry Optical are strongly encouraged to wear facemasks and observe social distancing wherever possible.
3.) Patients with appointments are asked to call us from their car when they arrive. Initial check in procedures will be done outside the building.
4.) Patients will be interviewed before the examination and temperature taken. We ask that you do NOT come to the office if you have a fever, body aches, coughing or sneezing. In addition if you have recently traveled out of state or have a family member or colleague who has any of the above symptoms we would ask that you reschedule.
5.) Patients will be required to wash hands prior to the examination. Patients are required to wear a facemask while in the building. Please bring your own facemask. The Doctor and technician will wear Personal Protective Equipment during the examination. Hand washing and disinfection of equipment is done after each patient encounter in accordance with CDC guidelines.
6.) All eyewear that is removed from frame boards will be placed in a designated area to be disinfected. Only after disinfection will eyewear be returned to the frame boards.
We are looking forward to seeing you all again. We will have staff at the office on Wednesday May 6 and Thursday May 7 to answer calls and begin taking appointments. Please call 334-271-3937 if you wish to schedule an appointment. Together we will make it through all of this!
Dr. Cunningham, Rocky Stone and the staff of Berry Optical
