Brush in hand and creativity flowing — this is what a meaningful afternoon looks like at Ambria. 🎨

Our residents explored canvas painting today, and every piece tells its own story — from bright sunflowers to bold rainbows. It’s not about perfection. It’s about expression, purpose, and the joy of creating something that’s entirely your own.

Because life doesn’t stop being colorful. Sometimes you just need someone to hand you the paintbrush.

This smile says it all. There’s something about a warm lap and a furry friend that makes any afternoon better. At Ambria...

This smile says it all. There’s something about a warm lap and a furry friend that makes any afternoon better. At Ambria, we know that connection comes in many forms — and sometimes, the best kind has four legs and a wagging tail. 🐾

If you've ever wondered what a "good day" looks like for your loved one — here's a glimpse. 💛
This March, our residents are baking cookies, traveling the country from their armchairs, playing music, making crafts, and sharing stories that matter. Every activity is thoughtfully chosen to spark connection and keep life feeling rich and full.

This is what we mean when we say care for a life worth living.
We'd love to show you around.

☘️ Did you know coloring is actually really good for you?

We’re celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this month with festive coloring pages — and it’s more than just a fun way to get into the spirit of the season.
For seniors, picking up colored pencils and filling in a page is genuinely good for the brain and body:
🖍️ Hand-eye coordination stays sharp with the focused, controlled movements coloring requires
🧠 Cognitive engagement — choosing colors, staying in lines, and focusing on detail keeps the mind active
😌 Stress relief — there’s real research behind the calming effect of creative, repetitive activity
🤝 Connection — coloring together naturally sparks conversation and laughter

And because every good St. Patrick’s Day deserves a little extra sparkle — our ladies also got their nails done today thanks to our friends at Amedisys! 💅💚

Simple moments like these are exactly what makes a community feel like home.
Happy early St. Patrick’s Day from our community to yours! ☘️

👁️ What someone with dementia may see can be very different from what we see.

As dementia progresses, a person’s field of vision can slowly shrink. What looks like a normal room to us may feel more like looking through a narrow tunnel to them.

That’s why how we approach someone matters so much.

If we walk up from the side or behind, they may not see us coming. To them, it can feel like someone suddenly appeared out of nowhere — which can be frightening or disorienting.

A few small changes can help someone feel safer:
✨ Approach from the front whenever possible
✨ Move slowly into their line of sight
✨ Gently say their name before touching them

Understanding what our loved ones may be experiencing helps us respond with more patience, compassion, and care.

Because empathy starts with understanding. ❤️. Thanks to Woodlands Senior Care for this helpful information.

Some of the best conversations happen around the table.

Today our residents enjoyed lunch on the deck, fresh air, warm sunshine, and time spent together. Moments like these are what make a community feel like home.

Because great care isn’t just about support.
It’s about connection, joy, and shared meals with friends. ☀️

Herb-Roasted Chicken with Creamy Cauliflower Mash & Soft Carrots

When you’re cooking for a parent or grandparent, you want something nourishing, gentle, and satisfying, without spending hours in the kitchen.

This meal is balanced, protein-rich, and designed with tender textures that are easy to enjoy.

Serves: 4
Total Time: 30 Minutes
Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

Chicken:
• 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (4–5 oz each)
(Chicken thighs may be substituted for extra tenderness)
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
• 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or Italian seasoning)
• ½ teaspoon garlic powder
• ¼ teaspoon black pepper
• Optional: light pinch sea salt

For the Creamy Cauliflower Mash:
• 1 large head cauliflower, chopped (about 5–6 cups)
• 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
• 1 tablespoon olive oil or unsalted butter
• 2 tablespoons warm milk (dairy or fortified almond milk)
• 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan (optional)

For the Soft Glazed Carrots:
• 3 large carrots, sliced thin
• 1 teaspoon olive oil
• 1 tablespoon water or low-sodium broth
• Tiny pinch cinnamon (optional)

Instructions: Preheat oven to 375°F. Place chicken in a baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, then sprinkle thyme, garlic powder, and pepper. Cover loosely with foil to keep moist. Bake 18–22 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165°F. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing thinly across the grain.

Steam or boil cauliflower until very soft (10–12 minutes). Drain well. Blend with yogurt, olive oil, milk, and Parmesan until smooth and creamy. Add a little extra milk if a softer texture is preferred.

Add carrots, olive oil, and water to a skillet. Cover and cook on medium-low for 8–10 minutes until very tender. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of cinnamon if desired. Cook a few minutes longer if an even softer texture is needed.

Meals like this do more than provide nutrition, they create comfort, routine, and connection around the table.

A huge thank you to Woodlands Senior Care & At Your Side Home Care for hosting last night’s Dementia Live workshop.

What an eye-opening experience for our resident families and community members. Cassy and her team created something truly special, an interactive, educational evening that gave people a real glimpse into what it feels like to live with dementia. That kind of understanding changes everything about how we show up for the people we love.

We are so grateful for the partnership and the care you put into this. Thank you, Cassy and the entire Woodlands Senior Care team.

Choosing an assisted living community is one of the most important decisions you'll make. 💙

Don't leave your tour without asking:
- How will you get to know my loved one?
- What does your pricing actually include?
- Can I drop by unannounced to visit?
- How do you support families through this transition?
- What happens if care needs increase?

Trust your instincts. The right community will make you feel heard, not rushed.

We'd love to answer these questions (and any others on your heart) during a tour of Ambria.
