Kirby Connections’ Adopt a Medic program has been on the road! This week, our team visited every Piatt County school to bring hands-on health & safety education to local 2nd graders. This month’s focus: First Aid Basics!

Students learned:
- What to do when someone gets hurt
- How to safely clean and bandage a minor injury
- When to ask an adult for help

The best part? Each student built their very own first aid kit to take home — empowering them to be helpers in their own families! We are so proud of these young learners for stepping up, practicing their bandaging skills with classroom volunteers, and gaining confidence in caring for others.

Thank you to our Piatt County schools for partnering with Kirby Connections' Adopt a Medic to build a healthier, safer community one classroom at a time.

We are excited to welcome nursing students from Millikin University - School of Nursing as they begin their first clinical experience at Kirby Medical Center!

It’s always a special privilege to partner with future healthcare professionals and play a role in their hands-on learning journey. Clinical experiences are where classroom knowledge meets compassionate care — and we are proud to provide an environment where students can grow in skill, confidence, and purpose.

Even more meaningful, this photo was taken in front of John & Mary Kirby — a reminder of the legacy of service and community commitment that continues to guide our mission today.

Thank you to Millikin University for trusting us as a clinical partner. We look forward to supporting these students as they take the next steps toward their nursing careers!

NU202’s first clinical! First ever clinical at Kirby, so we posed with John and Mary Kirby!
