We had a technology problem at work this weekend, one that would make our Monday morning start tomorrow even more hectic than usual. I notified our contracted IT company, TechKnow123, so that we could be on their Monday to-do list. Instead of waiting until Monday, Kashif Kincaid came in on Sunday afternoon to fix the problem.

That’s great service! Thanks TechKnow123 and Kashif! Your service and expertise are very much appreciated.

Our 2025 Summer Senior Seminar Series has concluded. We are thankful to all who attended, and we hope that the experience was valuable, practical, and helpful.

Our topics included “Optimizing brain health and cognitive function across the lifespan” in June; “How to improve balance and reduce the risk of falls as you age” in July; and “Rethinking osteoarthritis: A more hopeful, helpful, and contemporary perspective” in August.

We welcome your feedback on how to optimize your experience in future seminars of this type. If you have additional ideas for topics or logistics or anything else, just let us know by commenting below.

[SAR-chasm] is a part of our efforts to bridge the communication gap among healthcare providers by sharing a PT perspective on common clinical challenges. The more we communicate, the better we can collaborate to provide optimal outcomes for our patients.

This month: Early intervention in the treatment of concussion injuries has repeatedly been shown to be associated with improved post-concussion recovery and a decreased risk of experiencing persisting symptoms. The old "dark room" avoidance-based approach is NOT an optimal or effective post-concussion strategy. After 24-48 hours, a guided strategy of progressive and appropriate exposures to cognitive, physical, and social engagement IS optimal and effective. That's what we craft with the patient when we provide an early intervention service following concussion.

We have one round of seminars left this summer. The August workshop is entitled “Rethinking Osteoarthritis: a Hopeful, Helpful, and Contemporary Perspective.”

A concussion is a treatable injury! (Meaning that just waiting around for things to get better is NOT the best recovery strategy.) Proper treatment advice (post-concussion DOs and DON’Ts) can benefit everyone with a concussion. And some folks may need individualized treatment if symptoms persist. Appreciate if the opportunity to present a contemporary, evidence- based framework at UCA DPT over the past couple of days.
