The staff is truly skilled at making families feel at home and helping them through a difficult time. Randy M. Springer has nearly 25 years of experience in the industry. Randy attended Vincennes University where he earned an Associates Degree majoring in Funeral Service Education. He also received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Southern Indiana with a major in Health Services. Randy also holds an insurance license. He is a member of the Monticello United Methodist Church and is a member of and supports many service and fraternal organizations in the greater Monticello area. He is passionate about his calling and is devoted to the communities and the families he serves. Kathryn Springer, Randy's wife, assists families with many things including preneed funding, and she holds an insurance license for this purpose. Kathryn earned a Bachelors Degree in Management and Administration from Indiana University and a Masters Degree in Administration from the University of Notre Dame. Much of her time is spent side by side with Randy in the day to day operations, and she strives to ensure the comfort of the families they serve. Peter "Pete" N. Broedel

Peter "Pete" N. Broedel, 69, of Monticello, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at Monticello Healthcare.

He was born on July 19, 1956 in Mount Carmel, Illinois to the late William and Virginia (Hack) Broedel . On August 28, 1993 he married the former Barbara "Barb" Schmitter at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello and she survives.

He was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School in Mount Carmel, IL. He worked as HVAC repairman for Sagamore Heating and Cooling and American Diamond Heating and Cooling, both of Lafayette. Following his retirement from heating cooling and ventilation, he worked for Ace Hardware in Monticello and later for Delphi Community School Corporation in various capacities.

He enjoyed reading and watching Bears Football. He cherished his family and they cherished him. His granddaughter, Addy, was the apple of his eye; his goal was to never tell her no.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife Barb of Monticello, he is survived by his children, Bobbi (Jason) Eddinger of Decatur, IL, Jeffrey (Carolyn) Broedel of Crown Point, and Gabrielle (Gary) Leonard of Reynolds; granddaughters, Bianca Broedel and Adalynn Leonard; siblings, Carol (Bill) Nutter of Watseka, IL, Patrick (Erin) Broedel and Michael Broedel both of Mount Carmel, IL.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son Peter Jacob "P.J. Broedel; and siblings, Kathy Session and William and Eric Broedel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday March 7, 2026 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Father Dan Duff the celebrant.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Monticello Veteran Honor Guard with envelopes available at the church or the funeral home.

Edward C. "Ed" Reynolds

Edward C. Reynolds, 83, of Monticello, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at his residence.

He was born on September 21, 1942 in Hammond to the late Paul R. and Margaret (Baker) Reynolds.

His marriage was to the former Geraldine "Gerry" Jenkins and she survives.

He graduated from Griffith High School. He served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Turkey during his deployment. Early in his career he worked for Crown Point Street Department. He later worked as a Journeyman Station Mechanic at NIPSCO at Schaffer generating station in Wheatfield for many years and then transferred and later retired as a gas serviceman in the Monticello district. He then worked as a realtor for Welcome Home Realty, Help-U-Buy, as well as Keller Williams Realty in Monticello.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus St. John Neumann Council #6955 of Monticello, and was a past officer of the Izaak Walton Conservation League in Griffith, and a former member of the Monticello Kiwanis Club.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, trap shooting, archery, landscaping, carpentry, home improvement, and playing dartball for more than thirty years. He loved his family, his dogs, nature and traveling to National parks and natural properties as well as helping others. He enjoyed watching his son, grandchildren, and family members develop their life pursuits and took pride in their accomplishments.

In addition to his wife, Gerry of Monticello he is survived by his son, Christopher E. Reynolds of Monticello; grandson, Devin Reynolds; granddaughter, Lexy Reynolds; brother, Tom (Judy) Reynolds; nephew, Sean Reynolds; and niece, Sara Reynolds.

Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pm on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello. Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, February 23 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church with Father Dan Duff, the celebrant.

Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. cemetery with military rites rendered there.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Knights of Columbus St. John Neumann Council #6955 of Monticello. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.

Terry Eugene Maxfield, 68, of Monticello, passed away onSunday, February 15, 2026 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital.

He was born on May 4, 1957 in Danville to the late Harry and Janet (Krieg) Maxfield.

Terry attended North White High School and worked at Champion Parts rebuilding automotive parts until he was injured in a motorcycle accident in his early twenties. He made Monticello Healthcare his home and the staff became his extended family whom he loved and enjoyed very much. He enjoyed listening to music, fishing, and shooting pool. Above all he loved his family and conversation.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello.

Surviving are his siblings, Curt (Julie) Maxfield of Portage, Teresa Thompson (companion, Jim Sullivan) of Monticello, Darla (Paul) Goodner of Noblesville, Karen (Joe) Rush of Monticello, Trisha McMannis of Crawfordsville, and Joanie (Tracey) Schrick of Lafayette; many nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and a great-great nephew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew and a great nephew.

A memorial service celebrating Terry's life at 11:00 am Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home with Father Dan Duff of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Buffalo Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Terry Joe Van Meter

Terry Joe Van Meter, 75, of Shipshewana, IN, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis.

Terry was born on June 5, 1950 in Lafayette, IN to the late Marion 'Butch' and Mary 'Rusty' (Pearson) Van Meter. On February 25, 1978 he married Terese 'Terri Sue' Kreps in Chicago, IL, with whom he spent the rest of his life with.

Terry was a 1968 graduate of Frontier High School. He then went on to graduate from Purdue University with a bachelor degree in food technology in 1972. He served in the United States Army from 1972-1975. He was first stationed in Fort Sheridan, IL where he served as a food sanitation inspector and was then deployed to Myorenji, Japan and served as a dairy inspector for the troops. Terry’s career then took him to Oklahoma, Missouri, and all over Indiana before finally retiring in 2012.

Terry found joy in simple pleasures and was always ready for the next adventure. He loved spending time outdoors, especially near water or campfires. He enjoyed genealogy and Bible studies. He had a witty sense of humor that could bring a smile to all. He cherished his family, friends, but most of all his grandchildren. His colorful personality left a lasting impression on those around him.

In addition to his wife, Terri Sue, he is survived by children, Caleb Van Meter of Anderson, Joshua Van Meter (Kamara) of Muncie, Johanna Van Meter (Agustin) of Anderson; sister, Becky (Marty) Cotterman of Monticello; grandchildren, Julian, Luna, Otis, Kaleb and Dash. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Lorraine "Lorry" Van Meter.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello with his brother-in-law Marty Cotterman officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
