Status of the arena November 12, 2025
We wanted to take a moment and give our donors, clients, and volunteers an update on the arena.
As the building will be occupied by the public, we are required to apply for a CDR (Commercial Design Release) through the state of Indiana. This release is required before we can get a local county permit to build.
A few things have changed since the initial CDR application in February. One of the things we've had to do to meet the requirements of the CDR was to hire a PE (Professional Engineer). The PE has submitted countless documents to the state, along with correspondence on what the use will be for the building. Unfortunately, this has been just one of many submissions.
Once you apply, the state sends a request for additional documents. Such additional documentation can be anything from signatures, stamps, and seals of the building plans. Unfortunately, these documents in turn generate the need for even more information, which is stated on each request. As there is no list that would allow the submission of all requirements at once, it becomes a game of waiting with the back and forth of emails.
Unfortunately, the requests for additional or missing information have fallen short of clarity, confusing what exactly is needed. To attempt to alleviate any further lapse in requirements, we have a new representative from the state to help us understand, rather than have auto-responses from our submittals. We do have the White County Area Planning and Building working with us; unfortunately, they are not able to move forward without the CDR.
Thankfully, we have a builder who is aware of the situation and remains willing at this time to get started within a month once the green light is received. We are hopeful that this will happen soon, but until then, we will continue to wait and also remain on top of it by inquiring on a weekly basis.
We have had to cancel too many activities this year due to the weather, and this arena will resolve this. We truly appreciate all your patience, and let's hope for some good news in the very near future.
